the panasonic site has a place on the rebate info page that links to a page that you can see the status of our rebate, not an exact progress but it will at least let you know that are processing it. There is also a helpdesk number you can call.

Don’t forget about renting. These cameras are for rent all over the place, I can pull together several cameras no problem of course you need to be close to a fairly big size city.

My rule is if I can rent it for less within a year then the purchase price, I rent it, unless there is just a huge benefit to having it handy.

I own one camera and rent others for multi cam shoots.

Chris – not sure ignoring dropped frames is the best way to deliver a master to a client.

Anders – I use 10-Bit Uncompressed and DVCPro50, had more trouble with the 50. Timelines are clean single streams of video and audio, no edits or filters (video is a self-contained ref movie.

I will do a drive speed test tomorrow.

[Andrew B.] “- Also I heard that camera mount is horrible and glad i did not buy it. “
I will say the camera mount SUCKS. The main part is a bogen piece and it will not stay put at all I have to tape it down so it does not swing around. Maybe mine is defective but I don’t know how anyone would be happy with it.

I thought the unit was okay in the design and construction the price $2000 US, I guess I’m not the most critical person when it comes to stuff let this, I just want it to do what I bought it for.

David, great review, I’m doing a 3 hour test tomorrow for a wide concert I’m shooting next month.

The battery run time is a concern, the 3-hour battery only last about 2 hours. Kind of a true in advertizing think to me.

Would rather not pay the $39 bucks, sure, but I don’t have a problem with it on something like this, if, and a big if there is more then just fixes to the upgrade and on this one there is, and it is HUGE! I sure they have hours of programing on this and I want to support a company that is really aggressive in trying to make their product better. We are all trying to make a buck and I you don’t have to upgrade. Just me two cents + $39 + plus shipping and handling 🙂

What is your budget? I put in a set of KRK V4 last year and I have had a couple of audio engineers over and they love them. But they are $500 for a pair, which I thought were really expensive but high end guys think of that as a starting point.

By suggesting Shake I was not saying it could not be done in other graghic programs, I just would not except good results doing it in FCP. This is even more important if you go from 30i to 24P, then I would suggest Shake or Magic Bullet for that. Oh course try the software you have first.

I’m still not sure why you choice to shoot 24P, even a good pull down is going to look different than 29.97 unless you were going for a marked different look in the footage. You could have shoot 480i DVCPro50 at 29.97 and got even more footage on the P2 card.

One thing I can say for sure is the Firestore mount SUCKS! It is horrible, you have to tape it down and position is not good for anything but tripod work.

The firestore is a hard drive so it is not going to like real cold or moisture, I would try to figure out a p2 card solution, even if you have to rent a bunch. Operating Temp is 35-95 F
