The 100A introduced the squeeze mode and it is an electronic process. The camera does a pretty good job (better than doing it in post) but it is upresing a image that is cropped top and bottom, same image as the letterbox setting with the black bars cropped out and pixels made to look correct at 16:9 (which is still 720×480) so the pixel aspect ratio is 1.2 vs. .9

  • Good suggest but…

Apple has a feedback feature built into each of the software. You should use that, this is a good place to rally support and have others submit it too but you are not talking to apple here.

Couple of things, your seq preset has nothing to do with the capture, they need to be the same time base and codec to work together but if you change your seq settings it does nothing to the capture.

That preset should work but double check a couple of things

The FPS should be 29.97 w/ the Remove Adv Pulldown Checked

Then the captured footage should have a frame rate of 23.98.

In your above statement is the good capture coming in at 29.97? If so can you step through the frames and set the pulldown frames?
If this footage is 29.97 try the Adv Pulldown Removal under the Tools menu.

To use this product correctly you should read the manual cover to cover as well as the FAQ on Focus’ website.

    https://www.focusinfo.com/support/faq_topics.asp

The are several gottas if you don’t read and follow the instructions.

    Peter,

I just got an email announcing a fix from Image Software. I don’t use it but thought I would pass on the info.

Then place a TC clock somewhere that all the cameras can shoot it.

This way audio is being recorded with TC from the generator and the reader is display it. Every time a camera stops it starts with a shot of the reader to match up TC with the audio. This gives you some reference for lining things up.

I have to move up to the HPX500 to have the ability to reader TC in.

Are the other cameras Letterbox (4:3 with black mask) or 16:9.

To convert full screen to letterbox you can just mask it, raising the image up and down to frame shoot. If you need to convert 4:3 to 16:9 you have a major challenge on your hand. You have to scale the footage up 133% to make the aspect look correctly.

IF the latter, the best way to do it is to run it through hardware that can to the upres and aspect change. I have done it going from system to system Play the footage out of a system with the kona3 card that makes the conversion to a laptop that captures with the Io. But you lose the top and bottom of your picture.

Don’t think you can get any worse than not working.

Duplicate the project file and try a simpler script. It is hard to fix what you don’t understand, I don’t under what you have got there. (I’m not a scripting expert but I have always been able to get it to do what I need) Seem like you can just have each Video track set the same GPRM to a different value with a prescript and then one end jump script to compare that value and jump to the menu and highlight button you want.

Why not keep your script simple.

Each track has a play script that set the GPRM 0 to a different value (mov, immediate)
All the tracks end jump to another script that has compares set up.
    If GRPM 0 = 1 jump to menu x button a
    If GRPM 0 = 2 jump to menu x button b
