Most likely it is your bitrate and/or you are using PCM audio instead of ac3 audio. And it can be your media also. It doesn’t have to be just one thing. But since you have but no real info it is hard to say.

All you can do it make copies of the DVD if all you have is the VIDEO_TS folder. Toast is used to do this none of the other apps come into play.

Use DVD-R. Make sure the disc is formatted as UDF.

you have so much mismatch info in your posts. You need to slow down and be clear about what you have.

[Harrison Searles] ” have send it to compresses to make a DVD.
Can not get to work. I have read the threads on HD to DVD”

That doesn’t tell us what you have done. Or if you understand what you have read.

What do you mean by, “it doesn’t work?”

I’m with Zane, I’m pretty sure this voids Apple’s warranty, but if I needed it I would do it. But I also understand the risks.

It comes down to what you are editing.

Didn’t see how many angles you are working with, but HD even ProRes needs faster drives once you get past 2 angles so keep that in mind.

What drives do you have? How many angles?

You have to be using a codec/resolution that is RT playable, don’t believe you got that. Test with 3 or 4 .mov clips that match codec, framerate and resolution ProRes or DV something that is a true video, if it works that it is your clips that are not compatible.

So I’m pretty sure only 1920×1080, 1280×720 or 720×280 will work. (of course PAL and DVCProHD equivalent will also work)

OWC gives you their warranty and offers an extended. But right to bring that up and you do need to consider it. Personally I would take the risk, I have been dealing with OWC for years and they are a great company.

Ryan, you are confusing a graphic card (what drives the computer display) with a video card, that is used for capturing from tape and displaying on an external TV. As for the eSATA here Zane’s comment. You are sending this off to be done, it is not done by apple so you can do it at anytime but you are without the system for a little time. I would definitely not do it for at least a couple of weeks. I would want to give the system a good burn in to make sure everything is working before I sent it off. eSata is something you can add to the 17″ MBP but not the 15″. But since this is your main system you should be adding a monitor to the systems cost so the iMac is a bit cheaper. You cannot edit all day on a 15″ screen

But I would never CONVERT anything to AVI. If you are starting out as AVI that is different.

[Ryan Cummings] “Anyone know where the idea if iMacs sucking comes from?”
They don’t suck, they are limiting (for some people). You cannot add a video card like most high end editors have, but there is one way you can do that (Matrox) so you only have one option vs many. You cannot are limited on HD expansion.

Because of these type of things people say they suck but that is not the case. As an editing system they are just fine. But if you need to network them to be able to edit Uncompressed HD off a server you maybe in trouble, most of us are not doing that.
