    Your settings confuse my,

    Try this
Start with the ProRes 422 for Prog. material preset

change frame rate to Custom 23.976 (yes use that and not 23.98)
make sure Compressor: Interlace is not checked, hit okay.

The in turn on frame control and reverse tele.

just to a same section and hopefully it will be okay

Did you try Frame Control>Reverse Telecine in Compressor, I should work, it is not just for pA. As long as it is working with single clips at a time it should figure out the cadence of the Telecine, Advanced is just a cleaner version.

[Rich Winter] “Used Adaptec SCSI Cards are about $10 on ebay. The right cable might set you back another $20 or so”

Not that will work in a new Mac Pro.

I have a G4 867 that pretty much is my wifes email computer and my DLT system.

While more and more places would rather not get DLTs I do like them for DVD-9s just like you said.

there is more to uninstalling than deleting the app.

That is to be used as a “rule of thumb.”

Like Walter said if you need something now to get work done now, get what you need. I you just want to get a one system or it would be nice to have something faster but you can get by with what you have, I would wait it out. Even if you don’t go with the high end, what is high end now will be middle of the road on the next release and will drop in price.

DLT4000 are old SCSI 50 pin connectors (slow) you would have to get a real expensive SCSI and then a SCSI3 to SCSI(1) cable, totally confusing and as Noah said just not necessary unless a client demands it, and there are some that do.

BTW to get the DLT up and running you are probably looking at about $400, plus $50 for the set of tapes.

The overlay file goes in the subtitle track. Look up”buttons over video” in the manual. And it will walk you through it.

The DOP thinks H264 is better for color correction? WOW that is a first. It will come down to spending time up front and get it over with or have slow downs all through the process. ProRes will hold up better through the process especially the color correction.
