Canon use to have clips to download but no more. You are probably going to have to find someone that is nice enough to give you a clip or two. If you have a local rental house check with them also.

Why are you going from progressive to interlaced?Normally H264 is encoded much better in Compressor, export a self contained current settings movie from FCP and take that into Compressor but watch your settings, don’t change to interlace or the frame rate.

Shoot and edit HD, let your video card downconvert as it is going to the deck.

Don’t understand why you are doing this in 2 steps, why the ProRes if you are wanting uncompressed. Just capture uncompressed to begin with or leave them in ProRes.

Yeap, this is why I recommend CBR, faster, better and safer.

If you are shooting SD use DVCPro50, if you have to do Color Correcting in post the 4:2:2 color space will help out a lot. (of course this means no tape)
The Cine gammas are the noisiest so stay away from them.

if you shoot 30p the camera is recording every frame twice. When you log and transfer you need to select “Remove advanced pull down and duplicate frames” in the prefs, This will give you just the 30 frames.
If you shoot 30pN the camera only records the 30 individual frames and you have nothing to remove and that is why you get twice the record time on a P2 cards.
So unless you plan on putting your 30p footage into a 60p timeline this is no reason to shoot 30p, you would want to shoot 30pN.

They this in a busy room. If you start talking the room noise will fall off because the lav is going its good. Stop talking and the room noise will come up. Do a test with a TV or stereo going on in the background. If you have a controlled room the issue is not going to be that bad.
I do think a lot of the “Issues” are just things you need to be aware of and know when you need a work around. If you have a good mic and mic it close to the talent you can get better audio. But with something like the Zoom H4n you can get audio that you KNOW what you got. For me not being able to monitor the audio is the biggest issue with DSLRs right now.

You do notIMPORTa project file, you OPEN it. I think you are just trying the wrong thing here. -
Nice thing about getting the E Series is when you are really and able to move up to AF Prime or CinePrime you can sell them for what you paid for them.
I just got the 135 2.8 for under $50 with shipping. I go get an adapter for each lens and I got $15 which fit really well but the edges are bigger then the aperture ring so they kind of get in the way. Remember you should also get new rear end caps for each adapter.
