MC v3 comes with a whole new timecode effect that is real time, different timecode rates, miultiple windows, clip name, etc.

F1 and F2 are for creating subclips while capturing:
F1 – MARK IN
You can name a clip after F1
F2 end of clipYou can keep hitting F1 and F2 till you find the right mark. Last one entered is the one that sticks.

If they are using any HD capable Avid system, they should have all the tools needed to deal with aspect ratio and conversions.

You can let Avid do the SD deliverables – between the aspect ratio selection in the down convert as well as pan & scan tools, you should be able to do all of that from the HD project. When ready for SD, transcode and deliver your NTSC, PAL, etc. Are you using a Symphony?

Thanks Job for such a complete response! I have one litle trick for your ALE filel track editing. AvidLogExchange can take an ALE in as a source and process to ALE again – so you can remove the A tracks via the option, clean or relax overlaps, etc without doing a search replace edit.
