What are you trying to convert? Switching the project to 1080i is the first step. Is it an issue with the quality of the images? Anything rendered in 30i would be SD so material would need to be recaptured, re-imported, etc. Are you original assets HD?

  • According to the MXF AMA plug-in page, 6.5 and later the MXF AMA pug-in gets installed by the MC installer. Uninstall and reinstall Media Composer.

Unless there is new media, there is no need to bring any media back. Anything rendered can be rendered again back on the original station. I would just make new bins from the work you’ve done on the second station, copy them to the original project (with MC not running) and then launch project, open bins, and all media relinks. Render as needed.

If you added new camera originals on second station, then just bring those over to the first station and copy them to one of the numbered folders in the Avid MediaFiles/MXF/ folder structure.

When you exported EDL from the old media, what was the EDL showing as a source name?

Timewarp with FluidMotion recreates frames based on pixels and motion vectors in the image. Artifacts usually occur when something is being revealed that wasn’t in the previous frame. This is what the vector map editor is for – a bit daunting, but you will see all the vectors and movement as color maps and can keyframe the mesh as needed.

  • Then maybe we are trying for two different things. Mirroring is taking what I have on my laptop monitor and putting it out on the external monitor. I want to keep the AVID GUI on my laptop, but use the AppleTV and projector as the client monitor as though it were the full screen monitor. There may be other issues if and when this works such as picture delay respective to audio, etc.

  • I could never get it to work either. Don’t really know where the issue lies. I may go try again, but I am assuming you are working in two monitor mode where the Airplay is the “full screen monitor”?

  • Mount the target drive for where the DnxHD36 material will go. When transcoding, target that drive as the destination so you can do the transcode and the move at the same time. In this scenario, make sure you also select audio when doing the transcode so the destination drive has both picture and sound elements.
