EDL’s are pretty strict depending on what you want to do with the information. EDL Manager is even more limiting as to what it will add to an EDL, so that is most likely a dead end. What other info and what is the end goal of the EDL downstream?

I agree that setting up a master-slave workflow will reduce/eliminate deleted bins and work and visits to the Attic.

if you’re updating bins for example when editing, that you don’t overwrite a bin that might be in uses when doing so is one example. I usually zip up project folder and add a date/timestamp to it before putting it on a shared drive somewhere. If working with graphics and such, you will have a naming mechanism in place for the same reasons.

Will it be a “send” or a “shared” – A send might just use a service like filemail.com while sharing might use Dropbox. Things get a little more complicated if you want version management involved as you will have to manage that manually with things like Dropbox. I’ve used https://www.rushtera.com/ which is very fast and does a great job. I’ve recently used Frame I/O for review and approval workflow and it was great. AFrame combines a little of both.

I’m sure it is. In years past for Resolve, whatever was shown in April releases in July/Aug. At least that’s been the pattern.

They turned the OS X version around pretty quickly as the acquisition was announced in September around IBC. The Blackmagic Booth is a must see every year now. The fact they leaked this before NAB makes me wonder what they’re saving for NAB itself.

I shut those down when I reboot. The Application Manager does eat up memory and pings the server a lot. I quit that out of the Activity monitor as there is the app, and an app helper you need to shut down. I don’t believe there is a setting to not have it launch when rebooting.
Background and DNF transcoding can be shut down by right clicking the icon in the menu bar.

Hi Pam!
Assuming it is shot landscape (16:9) and portrait (9:16), you should be able to AMA link directly to the file for playback in Media Composer. I did a quick test last night with iPhone 5s, and the file was 1920 x 1080 @ 29.98fps… So your best quality quality wise is to create a 1080p/29.97 project which should match the frame rate and progressive nature of the file. If you were on 8.3, you would have the additional assurance of setting the source setting on the file to match project (frame for frame) making sure it stays at 29.97.
Once linked, you can transcode to ProRes internally within Avid. Anything but ProRes LT should be fine and then do an export QT “same as source”. And voila!
If all you want to do is create a .mov with a different codec, then tools like MPEG Streamclip and such will do the same thing.
