Well the thing is that I wanted to select ALL tracks on say A2. With shift click I only select one track in A2 but not all the audio I have on this track. With that double arrow tool I can select ALL my audio in A2 or any other track but then I can’t combine it/add it up with A5 or other tracks.
I suppose the solution for this problem would be to fully zoom out, hold shift and then just draw rectangles around the stuff I want to move? -
” it seems like you want to select independent tracks together with other independent tracks, say for example A1 and A5 and A7, etc, and not others.”
That is exactly what I want to do. I want to select them all together (with the expection of a few tracks) so that I can move them all together at once. -
You should give it a try, Robert d’Alexis. While it seems logical that doesn’t work. You can’t select individual tracks, it will also select the tracks underneath.

First of all thanks for those replies. Now my question is if it’s common knowledge to ALWAYS set the audio settings to alternating L/R instead of All Tracks Centered.
Wouldn’t it be fine to just set Audio Settings to All Tracks Centered even if there is dialog?
I feel like this is just how this one company in particular does it but they told me that as a video editor I should be aware of this and they don’t get how I can even be a video editor if I don’t do audio exactly like this.So I wanted to know if this is true and what’s your take on this?

That sounds great. Thanks a lot.
Sadly I have to admit I am too stupid for this / I have no idea where all of this is hiding so could you please give me an idiot guide?
The Effects tab is that purple icon next to Settings and Format and contains all my effects hence the name effects tab, right?
If that’s so I can NOT find the Effect under which subtitle might be hiding. I have found: Generator – SubCap
do you mean this one? I couldn’t figure out how this one works at all. I also have no idea where the timecode reader is hiding. A screenshot would help since I am quite lost.
Thanks a million 🙂

yes i’ve got motion blur enabled for the layer. i am not too sure about enabling motion blur for the comp itself.
i don’t see any check box for turning that on / off in my comp. all i see is motion blur under the Advanced tab and its set it 180° and -90°

that’s sadly not the case. I am in my browser window because it will find any footage by name (which is stored in folders in my browser window) BUT it will simply ignore folder names.
so to sum it up: FCP is actually able to look / search after folder names? because I can’t find an answer on that one on the Internet. thanks

August 27, 2010 at 10:06 am in reply to: Last second gets cut off when converting from AIFF to AC3Well I use the program “Levelator” for my audio so there wont be great differences in volume for each clip on the DVD.
Sadly Levelator doesn’t support AC3- only AIF. So I need to convert my AC3 to AIF for Levelator and then back to AC3 for the DVD.Actually THX a lot. ApplePro Res DOES indeed work on Win (since 2008). I’ve been told it doesn’t and never bothered.
I’m using TMPEGEnc because I’ve been told it’s the best for the job and got a bunch of features Compressor won’t offer.
I’ve tried a lot of clips with different durations and they all had that LAST SECOND missing issue.
And yes “but if you have a Wave or AIFF from source as input, does it also happen?”
I guess that is the solution. It doesn’t. If I use an AIFF from my original Quick Time and put this in Levelator it won’t cut off the last second. -

August 23, 2010 at 7:49 am in reply to: Last second gets cut off when converting from AIFF to AC3I guess adding an extra second at the end of my audio file is indeed a good solution yet it is quite weird I’ve gotta admit.
If you want to know what EXACTLY I did to get my AC3 here is the whole process:
(it might be the fault of some codec or a certain program)-Created a mov with Apple ProRes 422 codec.
-Converted that mov to Photo JPG so I could convert that m2v & ac3 on a Windows PC with TMPEGEnc
-Converted the ac3 to AIFF with Apple’s compressor (im back on a mac at this point)
-Dragged the AIFF into Levelator 2 (the result still got the last second)
-Then converted the AIFF back to AC3 and BAM my second is missing?!I’ve also tried it with ffmepgX but even this cuts off the last second???

So I guess the solution is indeed to open up the aiff I converted with Levelator into say Soundtrack Pro and add an extra second at the end of it which I can later cut in DVD Studio Pro for my DVD Project.
It just does this with EVERY AUDIO and quite frankly its a pain in the … you know.
Here is a simple solution I’ve found: I just export the audio as AIFF from my mov and then I put it in the Levelator and convert it to AC3. That way the audio will have the exact length it’s supposed to have. But here is the WEIRD part: Once I put those into DVD Studio Pro SOME audio will be shorter (cut off!) than the video footage- I JUST DONT GET IT :C

You can, if you do everything manually;
Yeh I know. That’s what I’ve meant with capturing it on the fly. Thanks a lot for that big reply. That really explains it.
