What a bunch of BS this test is. It is ridiculous to start a sensor snob website.

The FS100 has the same sensor as the F3 and somehow they rank it far above the the F3.

I love this quote from their site, “I’m not claiming in any way that this test is telling the truth or whole story about this cameras”,

Funny a Z1u has the same encoder chip, and yes the F3 really should have had 50Mbps, but all the guys diving in on quote broadcast quality cameras (XDcam’s) would have screamed, marketing at its best and buyer beware.

I can’t recall which but either the JVC or Canon uses 50Mbps and wraps to .mov
It is a firmware deal, plain and simple. I’d love it for my F3 and EX3.

Sony licensed the very same encoder used in HDV – EX – XDCam cameras to Convergent_Design and they unlocked it to let the end user choose the correct bit rate for their project, from 5Mbps up to 280Mbps. Just as Mpeg-4 can give 4:2:2 @50Mbps so can Mpeg-2, and both Mpeg-4 and Mpeg-2 can both choose the type of compression (Inter/intra) @100Mbps.

Sony also licensed it to JVC and Canon

Same 8 bit encoder chip in all these cameras.

Oh I’m sure the hardware is quite capable of encoding up to 280Mbps. The same encoder in the Nano Flash is in the EX cameras.

Certainly it is possible if Sony would provide an EVF. I don’t know why a histogram couldn’t work on a 3rd party product but it just doesn’t. As to exposure and focus-assist many of the EVF’s have their own features like false color and peeking to assist you.

I would shoot 720/60p for the added frames, music videos never need to be perfectly in sync

When they did this camera test the Slog wasn’t available for the F3 yet, so it would be good to see the 2012 shootout.
