I always record redundently to the camera and to the Nano Flash (100 Mbps) and it does the bulk of my work but yes I want a 10 bit recorder when I purchase the S-log key. I loaded a friend’s S-log key a few weeks ago and did some very simple tests, this is deffinately another level up. I really love the idea of the Gemini 4 4 4 but these files are gigantic and the type of gigs I do haven’t warranted it. I’m waiting to hear more about the Samurai as it is very small like my trusty Nano’s.

You should call Ian, I’m sure he can remember all they firmware releases. The first was IMHO to get the product. Up to where it should have been before it initially shipped

Oh sorry I thought you actually knew the difference between the quality of the two units. The F3 is amazing just like when the EX1 came out, but these sensors are worlds apart. If you actually have the resources for the F3 run to a dealer don’t walk. I also purchased the lens set and they are well worth it. The F3 is simply a great low price professional digital cinema camera from Sony.

I have the EX3 and F3 and they work very well together, you will need to spend time working with the picture profiles on each to find a god color match.

Now that John has given you a great answer and insight of what the shutter speed can do with motion similarities for a film look you may want to start exploring some picture profile settings that can soften the image slightly. Reducing the overall detail from these ultra sharp video cameras is also part of a good film look. The combination of motion blur and a saturated detail is what is expected from film. Motion blur is from camera movement and the shutter speed setting, image detail can be controlled by film stock or by advanced picture profile setting (on your video camera) and good lighting.
