  • Within the PP’s you can dial the color temp to what you want. I almost never let the camera set the white balance. Give it a try you will find the PP’s give a better look as well.

The camera will always feed a live image, just load the camera with as much media as you can in both slots and format all the cards you will need before the event, then as one card is filled up carefully remove it after the red light turns to green and reload it with more media.

CHeck to see what firmware you have on the EX1 and up grade to the latest. If you have an original EX1 they need a special firmware needs to be installed before you can load the latest.

The original file structure gives the ability to rewrap to any codec.

Each type of player and /or NLE has a language to identify and play a video file, Apple’s Quicktime only reads .mov files. Some NLE’s can now read and play any file , but before this happened Sony introduced the EX codec and their own file language and they gave software to support some NLE’s of the end users choice. It is this native (BPAV) file that is the original archive from the camera and some here believe a copy should always be saved to properly preserve the original recording. Each user can determine their own needs, but many times this end user doesn’t understand the workflow and rewraps the files as their way of transferring the files off of the SxS cards instead of the originals. The original file structure gives the ability to rewrap to any codec.

I received this notice from ShoPut Pro.
CRITICAL ShotPut ProTM Update — v4.1.2 for Macintosh

Yesterday we discovered and fixed a serious problem specific to ShotPut Pro v4.1.1 for Macintosh. Users that have recently purchased or updated to v4.1.1 are advised to immediately update to v4.1.2 to avoid potential data loss.

We found that in certain instances, without warning, the software was not copying all selected files. Unfortunately, this problem was not detected during our normal tests prior to release.

Please update your copy of the software immediately to v4.1.2 to correct this potential problem.

To update, click “Check for Updates” within the application menu. Or log into your account at https://www.imagineproducts.com. Click My Serial Numbers at the top of the page, and click the download link next to your v4 serial number (ending with “D1112”).

We apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused, and are very grateful to those who alerted us in a timely manner to it. Please know we’ve also taken steps to detect such problems in the future releases.

Again, this problem is specific to v4.1.1 only. Prior versions of ShotPut Pro for Macintosh are not affected. ShotPut Pro for Windows is not affected.

    Good Luck

  • It is known that the CINE 2 gamma is for bright sunny exterior use and CINE 4 is for lower light interior levels. Using the CINE gammas you won’t have access to the Knee feature as these are pre made advanced setting from Sony to get you up and running. I find if given the time you can take advantage of many of the other PP’s and dial in the Knee and Slope to expand the dynamic range. I find the F35like to be very yellow/orange in overall tonality and it also is set for lower light levels. I would suggest spending and afternoon with a vector scope and a good monitor and get to know the F3 profiles. I believe you can down load a set of profiles from Abel Cine Tech to get you started. I have PP’s for extreme hi 56k and low 56k as well as for 32k loaded on my F3. Go to my little web page and take a look at the Time for Three video and you can see the band performance has a defining look that I setup with my F3

Try the Interval Record feature and then and then try adding the Slow Shutter feature located in the menu under the Camera icon.

I would also suggest you purchase the Mastering the EX1 from Vortex Media, the basic features are explained in depth and you will learn more with this video about your camera than you ever thought possible.

I have the Red Rock Micro “Encore” and it works really good on the EX1. I might be interested in selling it because I have the new F3.
