Maybe my brain is fried then. How is this dupe detection if it happened in a new project??

Thanks Jerry! Always to the rescue…

On that note, I have figured out a work-around that might actually speed things up a bit. Question though: Shot in the dark here, but is there a way to batch rename source files? I ask, because my sound recordist gave me all the sound files with the source names of “recording.mov, recording1.mov” etc. I have renamed all the recordings in FCP, but if there was a way to match the source name with the file name in FCP, I can save myself a boat load of head aches.

    Thanks in advance!

My array is fast enough. The Caldigit HDOne gets close to 400mb/sec and my “2K” DPX files are 135mb/sec. I was under the impression though, that “Send to Color” is not an option when using GlueTools and FCP.

It’s cool. I was just saying I have faith in my lab! I just saw a demo of an F35. Thing of Beauty!

I am pretty confident my lab did right by the direct to disk TK.

[gary adcock] “I do not EVER recommend ever using subclips for this type of workflow.

Too often people (asst editor are notorious for this) are lazy and they capture whole tapes that may have TC errors or multiple TC’s on one tape making the conform very very hard.”

Well, I had my camera rolls telecine’d direct to disk, so there were no tapes to log each scene/take individually. Each lab flat is its own quicktime file.

Regarding multiple layers of video, does that mean that each video clip needs to be in the same track, or just cannot be layered? If I have a clip in v2 and nothing in v1, is that ok, or should I just put everything in v1?

Also, am I okay with subclips and new master clips? I sync’d audio to the video and created new clips and edited using those.

    Thanks gary!!

    Thanks for the reply.

ANY thought of a DI is out the window because of cost. SR is my way of “splitting the difference.”

So, what do I do regarding syncing? Do I sync the clap with the mark in the waveform or the audible mark??

BTW, I had more fun with “Closer”

I have a JVC HDV clamshell. I wonder if I can FireWire out to that and component out to the monitor.

Wouldn’t it just use the DV CODEC though?
