  • If you have the .cine files, you should be able to do the conversions yourself with the Phantom software.

    Wow,

    kind of rude, but anyway…

The Phantom is a high speed digital cinema camera and I am shooting at a frame rate of 500fps and above and I wanted to do a speed ramping effect similar to what you would see in the contemporary horror films like “Saw.”

That correct English-y enough for you?

Agreed. Just work with EDL. I recently did a 2perf/4perf mixed feature and sent the EDLs to the scan house.

[John Patterson] “Should I ever log and transfer with this footage? You say to send them to a working drive. What should be done after that? Just import? “

Much like with P2 and SxS, you create a virtual clone of you cards contents by copying the from the root folder containing your footage. Once that is copied to your hard drive, in a folder name corresponding with that specific card (organization is key!!!), point Log & Transfer to the root folder on your copied drive

Be sure your SD card in ejected, or it will still show up in Log & Transfer.

    John,

Use a card reader, but transfer the files to a working drive first. Don’t log and transfer from directly off the card.

  • I really wasn’t doing a traditional reference movie. I imported an OMF using Automatic Duck and the way it links files from the OMF to the master files is by using reference movies.

August 22, 2009 at 1:02 am in reply to: Silly question about final frame size

Well, that’s a bit of a trick question: the FINAL master output is going to be HDCAM-SR, with blu ray and DVD masters being generated. However, there will also live a digital master, which will be archived to LTO pre scale. I am grading then scaling. So I wil archive the graded film at 1868 x780 and then scale that appropriately for the SR finish. If the need for a film out applies, I am going to let the house do the color conversion from my digineg.

I should mention there are some minor 1080 shots which were captured on a video camera and converted to DPX and cut into the film. I just don’t know if there is a problem with matting a 2.35 AR file into a 1080 frame.

I did a clean install of everything! I actually installed a new hard drive and new OS!

I uninstalled the 6.5 driver and then installed the 6.5 NND driver and it is working fine. Strange…
