  • I actually did a test. Since we’re only using the footage for the Web, I created two identical length timelines with the Apple ProRes 422 LT with the same effects and whatnot. I then exported both out (Native timeline vs DVCPRO HD 720/30) and the latter did end up going much faster. I think unless we were using for TV or Film, this is a great work around to having to wait so long to Render/Export.

This could be huge for us depending on if we’re doing TV or Web which is like 80/20 with Web being on top.

  • Agreed. That’s how we normally do it. We’re just finally doing a lot of filming on our DSLR’s for projects and record to our Atomos Samurai Blade which we record to ProRes 422 LT. I guess we just have to let it run and deal with it later! Thanks!!!

  • Agreed! It seems unless you have the top TOP TOP of the line machine, there’s always limitations to how fast we can go these days. 10 years I’ve been doing this, and the workflow gets quicker, but now that we started using mainly Apple ProRes files, days are now longer LOL! 7 hours of rendering to go!

Hey guys, we’re looking to test and see if the HPX500 can be used with the Atomos Samurai Blade (it doesn’t show compatible but it’s still HD-SDI so why wouldn’t it?). We don’t care about the extra features that work on “compatible” cameras, just to be able to record from the HD-SDI into ProRes with a large capacity HDD in the Atomos Samuarai Blade.

Did it work out for you?

Well EVEN better solution. I later found out that they sent another drive with all the P2 Contents folders. All I had to do was log/transfer. I really would have loved to see Avid work its’ magic though.

We decided we’re going to have to bring the footage to a Avid DS editor to pull these into QT’s. Just too messed up for us since we’re on FCP.

This is what I get for Properties. I just can’t imagine having to sync these up one by one =/

We just find it hard to believe the PCD20 is already crapped out. I’ll have to bring up getting another reader to test out. I still don’t like that even through Firewire 400 it still has a possibility to cause issues.

We usually double capture directly from reader > FCP7. This isn’t the first time this has happened either. We just need a fool proof solution going into the webcasting captures.
