I dont know how to share a video on here, obviously. Any of you know how to properly link a youtube video?

Can’t you simply import the illustrator file as a comp and maintain layer size when doing so?

November 1, 2018 at 3:01 pm in reply to: Send single comp to Media Encoder and have it render parts as multiple .mp4s?You can also import the comp into AME, click on preset output selection, and then set markers in the export settings. Then duplicate the comp in the queue and adjust the markers for the next version. Rinse and repeat.

March 7, 2017 at 11:21 pm in reply to: Cache speed rules all, correct? Also, is my build on-point?Thanks Dave.
It comes down to a bit of laziness and a lot of workflow. I have to maintain every file I shoot/receive. That means I have a lot of files and they need to be safe. I bought the 4TB external RAID for just that.
I dread moving files from one drive to the next each project.
The external RAID 1 tests at 158 MB/s sequential read and 129 MB/s sequential write. Not even close to an SSD but, I think fast enough for even 4K video.
After all, the “best” drive setup needs 3 SSDs (1. OS/Software, 2. Project files, 3. Cache). That means I need to spend even more on my already expensive build…… PLUS the pain of moving files.
Sure, having project media on an SSD would be best/better. But as long as the external RAID 1 doesnt bottleneck everything (seeing how OS/software is on SSD and cache is on very fast M.2) I think I’ll be okay. I can always add an SSD at a later time.

When you make a pre-comp you select whether to leave attributes in the main comp or to be moved into the pre-comp. No matter what you selected, those keyframes arent deleted.
If the keyframes are in the precomp, try selecting them all, copying, and then pasting on the pre-comp in the main comp. Vice-versa on the other way around.

March 7, 2017 at 9:58 pm in reply to: Cache speed rules all, correct? Also, is my build on-point?PP aside for a second, I would still like an answer related to AE. Does cache rule?
Back on PP, it has cache settings much like AE when I go to Preferences>Media. What is the difference?

November 3, 2009 at 3:49 pm in reply to: After Effects Artifacts during “Make Movie” renderingSomething to add here. I can render out of After Effects in other formats wittout issue. I can even render to a .mov file using the “Animation” preset and it is fine.
The issue remains while rendering uncompressed .avi. And I needed .avi because of the odd resolution of 1360×768. Most other packages don’t allow that resolution.

November 3, 2009 at 3:42 pm in reply to: Only renders first frame of a 20 second clip in After Effects CS4There are three main areas you need to check once to select “make movie” and get into the “Render Queue”.
Output to: Where to save the file
Output Module: This is where you set the file type, fields, include audio, etc.
Render Settings: (This could be your issue) Here is where you tell it what part of the project to render and how. In “Time Sampling” look for “Time Span”. Make sure it says length of comp.
Or, click on the box to the right, “custom”, to input your in and out points.Hope this helps.
Oh, and just to be sure, you are clicking “make Movie” and not “Save Frame as…”, correct?
