I would argue the only _necessary_ plug-in is Gridiron’s Nucleo Pro. If you’re working with other NLEs, Automatic Duck’s Pro Import AE is also a must.

Other than that, it’s your discretion as to which plug-ins you buy to make your footage look cool.

Sure thing. I’ll get working on it. Windows can sometimes be a little more stubborn than a Mac/Linux system. Hopefully it won’t take too long.

If you need to use it sooner rather than later and if you’re OS-savvy, you could try installing cygwin and running it in there. Cygwin allows you to run bash scripts inside Windows, among other things.

But I’ll get working on a Windows version.

  • If add a slight radial blur set to “Zoom,” you shouldn’t be able to notice any quality loss due to scaling up.

Zooming faster (as opposed to slower) could also help.

    Hope I helped.

I think you will want to look into some open source Gridiron software.

Gridiron makes XFactor which will do what your asking (for a price). If you want to manually configure everything yourself (including writing some code), check out XGrid.

XGrid, to my understanding, is a robust API for distributed computing (what you want to do).

    Hope ths helps

May 16, 2006 at 7:00 pm in reply to: DVCPRO HD video codec for Windows XP

I ran into this issue a little while back while working with DVCPRO50 footage.

The only option I found was to purchase the DVCPRO codec from a site for $325. Instead of buying the codec or using Avid, I simply went to FCP. FCP (or even OS X?) comes with the DVCPRO codec, but Premiere does not.

  • For the record:

Tracking past the edges of a video file is useful when using the extrapolate motion feature.

For example (and something I’ve done in the past): A bus rolls onto the screen, then rolls off. There isn’t a single point in the video where you could parent the layer to (let’s say a billboard) and have it roll on and off the screen. It can save a huge headache of having to keyframe the motion the instant your track leaves the screen.

  • You may also have accidentally set the end of your work area around 9 seconds.

    To fix:

    – Move your timeline cursor to the end of your timeline (End key).
    – Set the out point of your work area (N key).

Hope this helps of Mylenium’s post did not.

If you do decide to reshoot and you hope to match up two separate videos like you describe, you may also want to turn off ALL auto features.

Specifically, you’ll want to avoid auto-focus. It may not be as noticeable as the color problems you have now, but if either shot is focused at different depths at the same time you’ll likely see a mysterious line down the middle of your frame.
