What you’re seeing is the interlacing. It’s solved when you export single field because there is no more interlacing, but it looks like crap because you’re throwing away half your resolution.
What’s the final delivery for this file? Web? If so, you’ll need to deinterlace the file (I use Sorenson Squeeze, which does a decent enough job). You could also mixdown your final sequence and apply the Fluidmotion effect, set the input to Interlaced and Output to Progressive. I haven’t tried this, but in theory it should work.
If it’s to go to a playback server to go to air, the interlacing will need to be there so when it’s played back on air it will look nice and crisp. On computer monitors the interlacing looks nasty, but played back for air it’s great.

Go to your timeline fast menu, Audio Data, and make sure your Auto Gain and Clip Gain are checkmarked. If they aren’t, add a checkmark and try to add a keyframe again.

Nope! Your projects and bins should transfer up just fine.
To be completely safe, though, just make a new project in Media Composer with the same name as your old Xpress Pro project and transfer only the bins over. There are project setting differences between Media Composer and Xpress Pro, so to avoid a possible project corruption take only the bins.
One of Avid’s strengths is the ability to take old projects to new systems with no problems, or very little problems, and to take new projects to older systems with just about full backwards compatability.

If you want to record a VO with your video, look into the Audio Punch-In Tool. It’s designed to do this.
If you want to use the capture tool to capture directly to your timeline, go to your Capture settings, the Edit tab, and enable “Enable edit to timeline (splice, overwrite)” and set your handles. Once you check that box you’ll get the Red and Yellow splice-in/overwrite arrows available in your Capture tool. Before you capture, click whichever one you want and whatever you capture will be overwritten/spliced-in to your timeline.

Except Media Composer isn’t certified to run on any 64-bit version of XP, so you’re taking a pretty big risk by doing it. It may run perfectly well, but as soon as you hit a problem you’ll be out of luck with Tech Support because you’re running a non-approved OS.

I’ve been using Screencast for the last two months, and so far I haven’t had any problems with it. We can post higher quality video than we can send through email and clients like that they can pull it up from any computer.

There was a long thread a while ago in one of these forums (the business forum, maybe?) about it. It got rave reviews from some of the folks that have been using it.

The framerate of your footage (23.976) doesn’t match the framerate of your project (29.97, or 59.94i).
Make a new HD project with the 23.976 framerate and reimport your media into there and it should work.

You can copy the bins and paste them into your project folder at the desktop level, or leave them where they are and go to your Project window, select the fast menu (make sure you don’t have any bins selected already) and choose Open Bin. Then navigate to where the bins are, select one, and hit OK.
You can’t, unfortunately, select more than one bin at a time this way, so if you have a lot just close Avid and copy them into your project folder. When you restart Avid it they will all show up there.
