[Oliver Peters] “3. Is there a way to always have FCPX reflect the correct project name in the Share menu? When you change the project name in the browser or metadata pane, it does not automatically also update the name used in the Share menu.”
No. It seems to remember the last name from the most recent export. So if you have “Project A Rev01” and do an export of a still frame and call that export “Freeze Frame”, then you change the project name to “Project A Rev02”, when you export the name will be “Freeze Frame”. This is a real nuisance.
[Oliver Peters] “4. Is there a way to break apart or “flatten” multicam clips?”
In FCPX? No. This is desperately needed. As a workaround you can try exporting a FCPXML to Resolve, flatten them there, then export a new FCPXML and import that. I haven’t tried it, but it might work. At the very least you could use Resolve to create a flattened timeline and render it out with handles.

Then the audio might now be a connected clip to the video, if the video is in the Primary Storyline.
If that’s the case, select the video clip and use the Delete key on the keyboard that’s above the arrow keys, not the Delete key next to the + key (and above the \ key). This will delete the video and replace it with a gap, leaving your audio in place (and now attached to the gap clip).

Are you sure you detached the audio, and didn’t just expand the audio component on the timeline? Select the video and if it selects the audio too then it’s not disconnected.
You can right click a clip and choose “Detach Audio” to truly detach it, but be aware that you cannot reattach it to the video and there are no sync markers.

Not really, and you will probably never be able to turn it off completely.
You can press P, however, which puts you in position mode, and disables the timeline so you can move clips around without gaps opening/closing.
What specific issues are you having with the magnetic timeline?

[Joe Marler] “The problem is you must copy the video files out of the card folder before doing the import. “
You can also navigate to the MXF or .mp4 files (depending on the camera you have) at the finder level and drag them in, bypassing the Import window, which allows you to Leave Files in Place without having to break apart the folder structure. This works for a handful of cameras.

Use the Draw Mask effect.

I’ve been battling this same issue. It really kills your flow when you’re editing!
I’ve found that most of the time I can hit Cmd+1 to go to the library browser, then hit Tab and that will activate the browser window and select the clip in the browser. It doesn’t work every time, but it does most of the time.
It’s very frustrating. Please submit a bug report.

Email the folks at Shot Notes X and ask if they have a trial. They’re very responsive and may be able to set one up for you, or at least let you know if their application can do what you want.

Update you’re software. This is supposed to have fixed. The latest version is 10.4.3, I think.
