    Not really, and you will probably never be able to turn it off completely.

    You can press P, however, which puts you in position mode, and disables the timeline so you can move clips around without gaps opening/closing.

    What specific issues are you having with the magnetic timeline?

    And the Tilden key keeps connected clips in place while you adjust clips on the primary.

    I’m not sure of all the ramifications on this method but, I sometimes have a little success by importing a soundtrack first then, bringing in the clips on top of that.
