I would restore your database from a backup done by Resolve, not Time machine. It is just a good idea to keep a backup of individual projects regularly and a total database backup monthly. This should be to another drive, not the system drive.
Secondly I would reinstall software like Resolve after the Time Machine restore. If you do a proper full install then import the database or project backups, I would expect them to open correctly

Years! The latest version is light years ahead. The export to fcpxml has been there for years. There are many versions as Apple has changed that protocol numerous times

If your DVCam player has SDI output and you get a Decklink card with SDI input, you can capture into Resolve or use the much simpler Black Magic Media Express software to control and capture the files. That free software is part of the Decklink card software

Those clips may indeed be offline but in the timeline it is displaying either a proxy version or render cached images

I presume you are using ProRes4444. .mov and AVI are just wrappers. Did you try changing the clip attribute alpha settings. It defaults to straight but if the clips are pre mult then you you might want to change the clip settings to see if that helps. I’ve only had jaggy edges with DNxHR444.
The another codec choice might be png or exr image sequences then import as a sequence in Resolve so they look like a clip.

From Pr you can only import a single timeline, via XML or AAF. The bins etc are Project based not timeline based so whenever I’ve import from Pr, I just get the timeline and all the media in one Resolve Bin.

Resolve imports lots of different file formats and codecs. I’ve not ever had an issue with something like H264 codec in an mp4 wrapper. Go to Resolve’s Media page and navigate to the file on your drive. Can you see it on the Media page?
Also try opening the file in VLC player and read what VLC reports about the codec. There may be some clue in pixel aspect as to why Resolve is not seeing it.

On the BM support page you can choose to download the Studio version. When the page pops up just select Download Only at the bottom of the page. You don’t have to fill in all the details again and yes it’s free. I have my Dongle from Vers8 and it still works fine on 18.5.1

And Blackmagic’s Resolve as it has a free version and is cross platform. It is also an industry standard for finishing work like color grading. Don’t get sucked into subscription software unless it pays for itself.
