Have you converted the audio from 44.1khz (camera setting) to 48khz for editing?
If not you are relying on FCP to convert and it does this badly on the fly, better after render.

Not an AE user but I have seen many posts here talking about AE needing to be set to 23.976 which is the actual frame rate that is abbreviated as 23.98.
AE however will give you exactly 23.98 if you set to that and the speed is therefore out with the FCP rate (which is actually 23.976). I presume you are matching field settings (upper/lower or progressive)
Confusing? Thank the slack broadcast engineers who introduced the whole.1% debacle last century. I mostly work in 25fps and such issues are happily avoided.

iDVD is a toy. It is worth learning to use both Compressor and DVD Studio Pro if you want to make quality DVD’s from FCP

Do you have autosave on? If so you might not have lost an hours work.
Also did you try ‘save as’? If that works it might indicate a corrupt project file.

I use an Aquos 45″ for grade and client monitor. I bought the first model four years ago and although many here would say it is not accurate enough for grading, I have had no problems. They are now much cheaper than the early models.
One issue with screens in general is delay which can mean the audio syncing is an issue. Do you make the client monitor in sync or the reference you use? In my suite there is only one monitor for grade & client viewing plus the 24″ Apple Cinema display monitor for FCP.

What were you using to make the crawl? There have been a few posts about a bug in the Boris text tool not making interlaced crawls in FCS3. Search the forum as I think there may be a link to a Boris software upgrade.

If it is MTV speak then ask yourself three questions.
Did you ever make a shot longer than 20 frames?
Did you ever put in a dissolve or fade up from black?
Have you ever cut something longer than 3:30?If you answered no to all three you are a performance editor.

That makes more sense. I notice that you have a lot of sequences open. Does this happen when you close most of those open sequences?

Having created any one of those, you can copy paste attributes like distort, crop, etc. If you want to put an example of each of the three somewhere accessible (like in a new sequence) then you can go to them to copy quickly.
