Whether we license or rent software, the things that matter to some are trivial to another. As someone that has to take projects from all NLEs into Resolve & Fairlight for finishing, the things that all software vendors change or retire matter.
Luckily the various iterations of xml that FCPX has been through has been closely and rapidly deployed by Blackmagic. Lucky for Apple, third parties have picked up the slack. No longer supporting QT on Windows by Apple was fixed by Pr & Resolve. So far the things that might have annoyed me that others may not even be aware of have all been fixed by other NLE makers.
So thanks all those NLE software teams that fix the annoying things that other do and keep on giving us amazing new features and performance. For me that doesn’t really include Apple however.

Is it also possible it is a reference file not self contained? If so it might be looking for missing media.

All the more reason to stick to 2.4 as a Rec709 standard reference. Same as loudness for mixing. If we don’t stick to a standard for picture and sound then the viewer can expect another variable in the mess that is their home settings.

On my WIN vers 16b2 I couldn’t replicate when using Delete empty tracks. I had empty audio and video to delete. Also tried to replicate in Vers 15.3 and it didn’t mute the audio either with numerous attempts. The projects I tried also have VST plugins and no issues with that added complication. So I can’t replicate what you are experiencing. Are you using the latest Desktop Video software? It might be an issue with that software and that you are using a TBolt external I/O??

Hi Oliver. I have had the odd loss of audio monitoring & metering but hadn’t associated it with deleting empty tracks. I don’t delete tracks that often but I’ll look out for that correlation. I’m working happily with 16Beta2 but I’ll test that and let you know. If it is that repeatable since vers14, I’d be surprised if it hadn’t been reported and fixed in 16.
Also I’m on WIN with the Decklink PCI 4kcard, so it might be a bit more specific to your setup.

Either just add a timeline grade or group everything and add grade nodes to clip pre.

The easy way to apply a grade to the whole timeline is to change from Clip to Timeline on the grade page. Grouping makes more sense to do to a smaller groups within the timeline, not the whole timeline. It works but the ability to add a grade to the whole timeline is already there.
