Affinity just dropped a new version 1.9 and the blurb indicates improvements with psd compatibility amongst other new features.

Apart from the obvious of always doing a database and project backup before anything major, have you tried to reconnect the missing databases? Are they actually gone?

Might be a bug. Best to report it to their beta user section of the BM forums which you can find a link to on their site.

It has been my experience talking to editors that Resolve since version 16 has been a better performer on most hardware than Pr. Your problems Robert may be a particular combo of OS and hardware. Also are you using the latest versions of Resolve. V17 beta is out and every version seems to improve performance.

It is very much like the old nesting in FCP7 and I assume Vegas. You can later select the clip and ‘Decompose in Place’ to turn it back into individual clips on original layers/ tracks

Only time I was told no tripods allowed was a shoot in an art galley where they were worried about damage and marks on the floor. Someone must have forgotten to sheath the spikes on a previous shoot. It made it harder to get a sharp image of an art work.

You can use a timeline as a source clip which is different to making a compound clip and using that. Drag a timeline into a new timeline and it looks and behaves like a compound clip but changes made in the original timeline are reflected in the version edited in another timeline.
I use this technique to do alternate versions so that grade changes made in the original are automatically reflected in all the alternate versions too.

You are talking about AAC encoded audio. Resolve does have limited output options for AAC. However you should be exporting PCM 24 bit if you want to do further work in Audacity. Re-encoding to AAC is lossy. Audio files are small and there is no reason not to use uncompressed (PCM).
Also Fairlight in Resolve is a vastly better featured audio editor/ mixer than Audacity.

I have only used Affinity Photo for the past three years. I don’t use it a lot but it did enable me to import .psd files from Photoshop. I don’t need to collaborate with others so I have no idea how compatible Affinity generated .psd files are in various versions of Photoshop. there are some features I prefer in Affinity to Ps.
As for swapping to Logic, why not try Fairlight in Resolve if you want a fully featured audio suite designed for video. No need to round trip anything.

There are political reasons why Primatte is not available in Resolve. Other Red Giant plugins are available as OFX plugins. Fusion is a bit daunting at first but I suggest you look at a few Youtube tutorials to get your head around the nodes, then try the Fusion keyer. It’s used in really high end work as is much better than trying to pull a key on the Color page
