  • Well that’s a mystery then. I have only heard of render improvements and 18.1 is supposed to have sped up everything

Did you install the latest GPU drivers from NVIDIA? The other potential reason for renders not increasing might be a slow hard drive being the bottleneck. That shouldn’t make it slower but might make it impossible to render faster than before.

If Fusion is looking scary then another way to do it is in the color page. First grade your background shot. Then on the edit page Alt + Shift drag this to track three. On the Colour page mask the are you want the png to disappear behind. Select add alpha output and drag the alpha ouput from the last node to the alpha output. Put your png on track two and animate the movement. It should now go behind the mask. You might have to toggle the mask to get the inside not outside of the mask to overlay. There are other ways but this is a simple to follow way.

It means you have deleted the project file from the database. Media is not deleted for obvious reasons. You need to make manual decisions about deleting media including render files. However, before you delete the project file you can go to Playback>Delete Render Cache> All and that is how you clean that projects cache files.

  • It will help if you tell us how you went about the transfer that didn’t work. Also any details about your codecs both video and audio in case there is something about sample rates or bit depth that may be a contributing factor

    10bit ? Audio bit depths are usually 16, 24 (standard) or 32.

I suggest looking at the Blackmagic forums and search for your problem. Others may have experienced this and reported it but if not, that is the way to send feedback, especially if you are using the free version. It helps to have Resolve version number and free or studio info in any bug report.

Personally I have not experienced any issues with mxf files from a range of cameras in Resolve including the FS7ii so I’m not sure what might be going on. I’m monitoring audio via the Fairlight CC2 card or prior to that the Decklink 4k card. How are you monitoring audio?

Also what is the sample rate and bit depth of the problem files? Number of tracks etc. Sony cameras are annoying in that they record so many audio tracks, even when they are silent. Just for interest try going to clip attributes on one of these problem files and turn off all but tracks with audio to see if it is related to having all those useless tracks trying to play.

This interests me however “Supported file formats include H.264, H.265, Apple ProRes and Blackmagic
RAW…” Is this poor grammar or does it mean Resolve will actually work with ProResRAW? It could be a interesting although I have never seen ProResRAW files. Plenty of BRAW

Personally I have no use for this development but I have been wondering if it might be prudent to add the soon to be released MacPro to my kit so I can edit on the go. I don’t like the idea of small screens for Resolve. A 16″ laptop is bare minimum for my taste but this seems to be getting people excited

I would be astonished if Grant Petty would be slightly interested in selling his passion. Especially as he knows Apple would let it languish as soon as something else distracted their attention
