Mask Question
I am trying to do something I can’t quite figure out in Resolve: I want
to be able to move an object (a .png image in this case) up the screen
and have it disappear behind a mask. I can create the mask but it moves
WITH the object. How do I make it so the mask obscures the object and
stays stationary? Probably easy, but I can’t figure it out. I could
do this on the timeline in Premiere, but it seems like
Fusion is necessary in Resolve? I’ve moved on to the better tool, but I’m still learning how to use it! -

If Fusion is looking scary then another way to do it is in the color page. First grade your background shot. Then on the edit page Alt + Shift drag this to track three. On the Colour page mask the are you want the png to disappear behind. Select add alpha output and drag the alpha ouput from the last node to the alpha output. Put your png on track two and animate the movement. It should now go behind the mask. You might have to toggle the mask to get the inside not outside of the mask to overlay. There are other ways but this is a simple to follow way.
