Sorry for the wasted post. Someone had fiddled with style settings and resetting style has fixed it.
I thought I was on the standard setting but it remembers the last style setting which is odd.

CEDAR audio restoration gear is the choice for audio pros & forensic science.
Check out their other modules. I don’t work for them but have used there gear for years on Operas & docos

Rather than play with software that you don’t know, find a sound studio with CEDAR. They have the best debuzz algorithms, but you need to be skilled to drive it.
CEDAR sorts the harmonics as well as the fundamental frequency. STP is a toy by comparison.

December 19, 2007 at 10:23 pm in reply to: Audio in FCP sounds fine, but bad on DVD.Best to leave the boom track. Please don’t delete this track as it is the mixers friend. Just pull down the level. When audio post imports an OMFi those levels are ignored and the clip is available. In sound post I often mix boom back in.

That’s why in an audio suite there is a mono button on the monitoring bus to check for phase cancelling errors on stereo.
Dialog should always be panned to centre but I find many editors leave combo tracks like a radio mic & boom panned L&R. Glad it is going to audio post. I am sure they will discover and fix a whole lot of other issues for you.

December 19, 2007 at 9:08 pm in reply to: Syncing audio to PAL cut – at my wits end – PLEASE ADVISE[Tangier Clarke] “It starts out in sync, but then gets out of sync over the course of 20 minutes (the length of the cut)”
I was hoping you could tell me how many frames short or long it ends up over the 20 minutes. It is possible to change the length of the wav file if it is a small sync drift. If it is a big drift then something else is going on.

What sort of drift are you having and over what timeframe?
Can you export an aiff from Soundtrack and see if that syncs in FCP

December 14, 2007 at 2:16 am in reply to: Downconverting HDV to SD – interlacing issuesThe slo mo shots in the upper sequence need to be made into a QT file in the same codec and then drop the Qt on top of the original shot. When you copy into the lower field sequence, FCP 6 will correctly apply the shift fields filter.
Shift fields stuffs slo mo shots up by applying itself before the slo mo render which makes field blending wrong. I just did this in reverse with DV lower field slo mos into an uncompressed SD (PAL). This fixed that problem

CHV plugins also have morphing tools. I have not tried that one specifically although I have used other plugins in the set.

December 10, 2007 at 11:36 am in reply to: FC6.0.2: Shift Fields+ Speed Change. Broken?I noticed the same problem on 6.0.1 . I had DV files in a 10 bit Uncompressed SD timeline and the 50 & 75% speeds looked terrible. I dropped the shots back into a DV timeline, made a QT file of the slo mos and re-imported into the uncompressed where it applied a shift fields. However the slo mos looked correct – smooth and not stuttering.
