Thanks for that. I forgot to mention I’m leaning towards a 15.6in for portability. If they make that model in that size that looks like a plan. I wish these didn’t come preinstalled with windows 8 though. I have heard compared to windows 7 64bit it can cause your system to run more slowly. I am considering buying a ssd to install os/adobe suite on. Or is it more important that the cache be on ssd? I assume its not a good idea to put both on the same drive.

I tried nesting to a stand alone sequence and still get the same blank frame regardless of how long the clip I’m trying to color correct is. Has anyone heard back from Red Giant? I’m new to the issue so I haven’t submitted a ticket.

I went into indexing options and rebuilt the index which somehow turned it off completely. Now the search is functioning as normal. I’m going to save and restart the project to make sure everything stays connected. I’ve heard horror stories about Windows 7 search utility, is leaving the indexing off completely the answer to some of it’s problems? Thanks in advance for any knowledge.

Also, this CineRaid unit doesn’t require a raid card correct? It would seem all I need is the included software.

So I just called the “tech support” at CineRaid. I must say that the experience didn’t instill a lot of confidence as far as their support goes. Unfortunately English isn’t their first language. I get the impression that they are a smaller company with possibly only one or two people for tech support. The only drive they could recommend is this WD which is quite expensive:

I think steering clear of the Seagates is a good idea, so I’m considering these:

That’s great to hear. What drives and raid configuration did you have on yours?

Also, what were the read/write speeds you observed? Do you think these will be fast enough to edit raw footage from?

I’m sure these aren’t the best but I’m trying to go as cheap as possible. Will this setup work? Does anyone have any insights on using Seagates for raid or with the CINEraid company?

so I did place in after effects from the right click menu and that worked just fine after doing what you instructed. Strange that I get an error from the right click function and not that.

Still it would be great to bypass this step all together. Is there anyway to do that?
