Thanks a great deal for that helpful advice. It worked. The older versions of c4d handled the timeline-object relationship far better.

Dear Brian,
I’m ever so grateful. Your points are very well noted. Can’t blv what you’ve done came from the same illustrator spline i made.
Cheers

Hi,
Ur efforts are really appreciated. Having gone thru Brian’s suggestions i’m yet to achieve the desired solution hence i’ve attached the file itself.
Could this have anything to do (though i doubt it) with the fact that the shield was extruded from an illustrator file? Might have to model the shield in autocad 2011 and exported to c4d as a .fbx file. I’m however convinced i’m better off working purely in c4d.
thanks guys

Thanks Brian,
With regular grids now activated the wrap still had its jaggedness. I however toyed with increasing width of regular grid from default 10cm to 500 and saw some improvement. Increasing the width beyond 500 isn’t making any more difference, as the curvature is still jagged. See attached screenshot: 2253_shieldwrapproblemregulargridon.png.zip

Hi,
No, the ‘regular grid’ isn’t turned on. Strangely, it CAN’T be turned on as the check box isn’t responding to my clicks.

January 21, 2011 at 1:29 am in reply to: Unable to “arrange” a set of cubes using “along spline” modeHello,
I have just attempted this “arrange” routine in front of a class of students this time using Cinema4D studio R12 and i was shocked to see it unable to properly align the objects again. And this in spite of several attempts using the same idea you suggested that worked in R10.
Furthermore, i opened the R10 file (that worked) in R12 studio and all the properly arranged (or duplucated) objects were suddenly out of alignment again.
Attached is a screen shot: 1526_screeenshot2.png.zip
Please help.

I’ve looked further, and i suspect its the ‘tangential’ feature that i’m missing out. It is obvious in R6 but not in R10. Can you help? Link to tutorial page is here:

January 7, 2011 at 6:00 am in reply to: Unable to “arrange” a set of cubes using “along spline” modeHello, I eventually sourced a solution here https://forums.cgsociety.org/archive/index.php/t-292744.html. However, the objects (now following the spline) aren’t arranged perfectly along the spline. It seems i have to tweak the axis of each object to align them properly. Whre am i still going wrong?
