hmm, thats not good..OK i guess then i need a replacement file type that FCP can easily output…with similar quality and filesize

What i need is a file type that can play in window media player for my clients. We try to get our clients to use quick time, but often their corporate IT folks wont install it

So we have to find a good windows media option

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Now I am pulling out my hair here…I am still trying to get real time playback with FCP…Right now the only Quicktime codec that works for me is DV..but even at 100% it looks soft.(so this isn’t a great option) I have tried jpegA compression 90% and 100% neither works…At 93% I am getting the dropped frames pop up error, At 100% i get the nasty red bar that says i need to render. Animation codec dosen’t work either…(need to render)

Its only standard def as well…720×486 1.2 aspect 29.97 fps (what codec would you use for this?…what codec should work for this??)

My Sequence settings jive with my clip settings so that bit of learning has been taken care of.

    thx!

Thanks for all the help. I have installed the kona codec on my mac and pc…Hopefully that will work. Are there other codecs to try? Is the apple one available for PC? Also what is the uncompressed 4:2:2? Is that the apple codec?

    thanks again for helping out

yes I am new to FC.
I was working with the tech guy at apple to get the settings of my source and timeline to match…but no luck with that.

do you need a codec?…because I had set my quicktimes to render with no compression…..and no codec. If so, what codec is best for working with FCP?

    thanks for helping out!

i know this was a silly question… obviously a smoking system is needed for realtime hd playback…

[mastra] “Can premiere preview HD files in realtime? without added hardware?”

  • Hi, did you get an answer to this?

I am curious about the same thing…can Premiere Pro 2.0 play back dps files?

    thx
