We are a small animation shop. We currently use a single dps velocity Quattrus edit system, and want to expand to more edit systems (perhaps 2 more)

..the quattrus is too expensive to simply add more systems, and I am not quite sure if it is the right choice, especially whan considering sharing projects and some files across our network, and not having the ability to do HD. And being a huge after effects user, i am quite intrigued with the dynamic link concept of he adobe suite

So several questions… What is the best uncompressed file format (D1) to use in premiere 2, for the quickest interactivity?

Can premiere preview HD files in realtime? without added hardware?

What if any, are the stability issues with premiere 2?

and one more question based on my limited time using the demo version… how can you replace a clip on the timeline? In after effects you hold the alt key while dragging the footage from the bin to the selected footage on the time line..how is this done in premiere2?

any other thoughts and comments on this topic would be appreciated

    thanks!

    Mike

i know this was a silly question… obviously a smoking system is needed for realtime hd playback…

With an HD Decklink card ($999) and enough hard drives you could preview HD in realtime.
