changing size of mpeg 1 in compressor
Posted by Michael Astrachan on May 10, 2007 at 12:37 pmIs there a way to change the default size of mpeg1 in compressor?…it seems locked to 320×240.
If so, how?
thanks

May 10, 2007 at 12:55 pmI recently had this same problem.
I found out that mpeg 1 is suppossed to be 320×240.
I was able to use Squeeze and get it full screen, but the quality was very bad.
In fact, even though I know its possible cause I’ve seen it, I was unable to get an mpeg1 output to be both full screen AND good quality, I had to choose one.
I used Compressor, Cleaner, Squeeze and Mpeg Streamclip.I ended up bailing on that codec and talked with the lcient to find out wmv would meet her needs too.

May 10, 2007 at 1:18 pmhmm, thats not good..OK i guess then i need a replacement file type that FCP can easily output…with similar quality and filesize
What i need is a file type that can play in window media player for my clients. We try to get our clients to use quick time, but often their corporate IT folks wont install it
So we have to find a good windows media option
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

May 10, 2007 at 1:49 pmHi mastra,
Different that the MPG2 that allows many “profiles”, sizes and data-ratesThe MPG1 was created with a fixed size and data rate (in fact lower than the one that Compressor offer today). If you want to get a decent MPG1 is very important that you de-interlace before compressing. QT do not support interlaced movies smallers than more or less 380×288 (I do not remember the exact size). I guess the same it happens with WM, RealPlayer and so.
Anyway the solution that Debe points is the more recomendable. Flip4Mac its give you the best options for working between Mac and Pcs.
Cheers,
rafael
