So mirroring instead of raiding right? I know that if you swap out drives that have a raid on them it screws things up, am I right? However you saying that if I mirror the drive I would have two nice copies of the same data, I could take both drives out and I would have the information secure on both drives? So therefore no need to worry about bruning DVDs (except maybe a copy of the most vital interviews just to be very safe. Also would I have any problems with these drive going through xrays during travel?

My solution: I have bought a spindle of MAM-A DVD Archive discs (they are about $2 a piece). The guy at tape warehouse where I purchased them claims this is the longest term solution with a differnt dye formulation. I send one of these out with each project with a sticker that tells the user to store this copy in a safe and only use it for duplication, if the other copy goes bad. This is the best solution I can think of.

December 23, 2005 at 3:02 pm in reply to: New Hard Drive problem, does not have read/write access

Somehow when I copied the folders off of the firewire drive, all of the folders were set to read only. I have to go to “get info” and change them one by one to read and write and now everything is working fine

I am attempting the same thing. I am trying to render a QT movie with an alpha channel that I can reimport into FCP in a different sequence on a different computer. I did all of this and nothing works! I can not seem to have the alpha channel rendered into the QT movie. Any ideas?

I took the clip to Cinema tools and just told it to confrom to 23.98 even though it is already a 23.98 clip. Once the clip is conformed, which takes a second it when offline in FCP. Then I reconnected and everything is Fine!

Thanks for the insights. The show is on PAX, sunday night at 6:30, and hosted by a local celebrity. I watched the pilot last night, and it provides useful information for brides etc. However it does have a “feeling” of paid advertising from all who are featured, I guess this is essentially what this is. I am not sure if the auidence will pick up on this or not. I think it would be good to have the segment to have on a demo reel. They have offered to put me on the segment “Ask the expert” where the viewer emails a question about wedding video for example, and they would have me answer the question then roll directly into my commercial. Im not sure how many hits I would get from the actual show but the credibility on demo reels could be good.

I would certainly NOT use copyrighted music in the commercial! However thanks for the heads up, that suggestion is very useful.

To be more specific, I cant select the DVD/CD Disc from the media menu, and illustrator will not let me make a custom size when I select the R200 driver. So what can I do to be able to print of these disc, besides go back to AI10?
