    Hi Dan,

Yes, this is what I was roaming the web for. I’m trying to make my wiggle motion wave more uniform and exponential, less wobbly really, more shaky like an earthquake growing. This is looks like a great doc to reference.

    Thanks!

    Hi Mato,

That sounds like a clever idea. You’re probably right. Chris from Mettle was real cool and helped me with my comp so I’m currently adapting the basic layering and lighting strategies he put together and am kind of wrapping my head around that for the meantime.

I’ll keep that technique in the back of my head in case things get more complex though.

    Thanks again!

    Hi Chris,

I dropboxed the file and bg reference, thanks!

I looked into that one but I have the mirror at an angle in the room so I would like the warping to come out (which I can accomplish). However, the edge starts floating when I push the depth values. The displacement map stays flat. Looks great, but I need something that pops.

Thanks for the recommends though! 🙂

Awesome, I’ll definitely check it out.

    Thanks Ted!

It’s strange for some reason the graph is behaving much more sensibly. I don’t know what I was doing wrong earlier. Huh, rookie mistake I guess.

I’m actually animating Particular shadows by proxy and it looks great. It’s what I’m going for, but for straight video I can imagine I know what you mena.

    Thanks Dave! 🙂

Yeah I hear you. I thought I was barking up the wrong more a less. I figure I could try to through together some kind of value map based on lightness but…it turns out building something that big at 4k would become problematic so I dodged the idea all together.

    Thanks though! 🙂

    Wow, okay cool everybody, thanks!

    I learned a lot today!

Well, what I was working on didn’t really pan out so I switched gears.

Overall it’s just a directional box stream of particles but when I rotate it it’s flat which I thought strange as it’s naturally 3D (or 2.5D) the moment it’s on the stage.

So do I need to use a light or null as an emitter?
