That is odd. My Vegas 10e is nearly twice as fast as rendering on my CS5. I do have a GTX470 video card, which Vegas seems to use better than the CS5. On Vegas 10e it’s taking me just about two hours to render 15 minutes of stereoscopic video, which is two tracks of 1080i, plus titles. Maybe CS5.5 is making better use of your computer resources than Vegas 10e. Maybe you can render just the non-conforming file on Vegas and then insert it into your CS5.5 project with the rest of your clips. It’s hard to judge without knowing exactly what kind of computer setup you have.

So your project settings should be 720×480 interlaced, lower frame first (I assume). When rendering you can render to any size, but it’s still a 720×480 picture blown up to whatever size you are making it. Most modern HDTVs will expand it to 1920×1080 automatically (unless you have a 720 HDTV of course). It seems the rendering package of choice nowadays is the MPEG-4 variety, but I still prefer the less-compressed MPEG-2. My suggestion is to just render it in the original size, 720×480. Let the TV expand it. If for some reason it doesn’t expand, then go back and re-render in 1920×1080. Sony AVC (MP4).

First thing to do to promote high quality is to ensure that the project settings in Vegas 11 match the format of the video coming out of your Digital 8 Handycam. After that, burn to whatever standard you like. Just as your post implies, my WD Live box plays pretty much everything I’ve thrown at it.

Hi Kelly. Yes, I’ve been using Architect to burn all my Blu-Ray disks.

But one wrinkle to my above. I’m trying to burn MVC (3D) files, which is a claim of Vegas Pro 10d and e versions.

Since posting, I’ve found a work-around. I can create the MVC ISO image using Vegas in the stereoscopic 3D project, then close the 3D project and burn it to Blu-Ray disk from any normal, non-3D project. In other words, I create the MVC ISO image from the 3D project, then I open any non-3D project and select Tools > Burn Disk > Blu-Ray Disk, but then I click the option to burn from existing image, rather than burn the current project, and use the saved MVC ISO image.

I assume just a bug with Vegas Pro 10e. Frustrating, but guess I’ll have to live with it.

    Thanks much for responding!

Thanks Joe. I think that’s just the list posted on the Black Magic site. My point is that there is a multitude of SSDs out there, some of which reflect better value than what is listed. That’s a pretty narrow list and I’m sure there’s a larger variety of compatible SSDs. For example, I got a good deal on a 120 GB OCZ Solid 3 SSD which works great with my Shuttle. I’m interested in what’s working well for other users. But thanks for the feedback!
