Hello creative cow members I am having some trouble with Sony Vegas pro 10e the rendering time is unexceptionably slow as in 2 hours and 30 minutes for an 8 minute video file at first I thought is was just my computer was slow but it turns out that rendering something equivalent in adobe premiere pro cs5.5 is much faster about 15-30 minutes which is fine but over 2 hours for an 8 minute video of mixed footage 720p 30 footage from my sx150is canon powershot and 1080p30 footage from my canon t2i dslr
One theory that I thought of is that sony vegas has a preview window and premiere does not have the preview while I am rendering something that preview must take up resources and because of that slow down render time
Also some of you may be wondering why not just use premiere pro well I can’t because It refuses to conform one of the files that I need to be part of the video the reason why it won’t conform it is because it is 1.7gb and while it is conforming it runs out of ram. Also another thing that bugs me about premier and sony vegas why can my conmputer perfectly play the file in media player but not even be near playable when editing?

That is odd. My Vegas 10e is nearly twice as fast as rendering on my CS5. I do have a GTX470 video card, which Vegas seems to use better than the CS5. On Vegas 10e it’s taking me just about two hours to render 15 minutes of stereoscopic video, which is two tracks of 1080i, plus titles. Maybe CS5.5 is making better use of your computer resources than Vegas 10e. Maybe you can render just the non-conforming file on Vegas and then insert it into your CS5.5 project with the rest of your clips. It’s hard to judge without knowing exactly what kind of computer setup you have.
