hi carly
will the FS1 do the job YES IT WILL!
is it a nice piece of gear YES IT IS!
will the FS1 improve your quality in your specific workflow???
I really don’t think so. think before spending 3000$ on the FS1you are talking about a standart DA i hope this isn’t composite.
feeding composite to a encoder will waist a lot of encodingpower.
if it is try to make your COMPLETE workflow SDI(except backstage monitor’s). this will help you more.if it is SDI already maybe a ProcAmp or noisereduction system can upgrade your workflow.
upscaling SD to HD and then encode it will introduce 2scaling step’s which will only degrade your quality!! and be honoust do you really want to deliver your content in HD on the web.
i hope you can tell us more about your setup.
what mixer do you use?greet

well
that’s the beauty of this product.
it is filling a gab in matrix product’s
i guess you will not find a product that is so cheap so easy to use and to setup and so made for post production facilities then this.
can you make a setup which works like a videohub . of coarse buy products from GVG,PESA,Nvision, leitch make a multilevel setup buy some panels or let specialist write a application. but it will never be this cheap and this easy to install.greet

for hobby purpose the head is fine.
i guess you have a betacamSP deck to playback your tape’s.
because this can’t be done with the camera alone.greet

hi there
don’t rely on timecode alone.
genlock your camera’s and if you want to do ir really right hook-up word-clock to your multitrack that is sync to the ref-video you send to your camera’s.
use a SPG like this
https://www.rosendahl-studiotechnik.de/nanosyncs.html
for instance and jam the TCgenerators from the camera’s.
or better feed them Timcode all the time from a generator that is also genlocked to your SPGgreet

the only thing i can say is
arange a SHOOT OUT.
bring out all those nasty testchart’s and make some difficult scene’s
whit difficult colors and fine detail.whit a shootout i mean comparing different camera’s so get your self a SONY,GVG and Ikegami and of coarse hitachi camera and compare.
you have to work with these camera’s on a daily basis
making your decision to fast will punish you or your client for years to come.if time run’s out hire the camera’s for the period you need to do your TEST.
if sales people know you are serious they will arange a demo for you certainly in these difficult day’sgreet

i guess you don’t have a choice but using the old boy.
go find yourself a framesynchronizer (often called TBC which is WRONG).
most rental house do have them and this won’t be that expensive.greet

well
now you have 2 answers hi 😉
i was answering out of my experience whit betacamSP vtr’s, we had several models BVW75,PVW2650 and 2800 and UVW1800 and the UVWseries. we all have maintained them in a thight schedule. funny enough the most used and the oldest BVW75 did survive the rest is death. maybe we have been lucky but i guess this has to do with the more robust transport. specially because all the UVW’s where rackmounted and did not move while the BVW where also used in the field.
