I just tried it out on a new G5 dual 2.7 which came preloaded with QT7 and Tiger. Seems to be working fine. There are a few weird things, but overall it blows me away. Now I want to know why some apps completely break with each dot release of OSX, and Commotion keeps on working. Especially considering that Scott Squires is not a “real” engineer, which was constantly reiterated by the “real” engineers working at Puffin. They complained about sloppy code. Look who’s laughing now 😉

Seems like it is still chugging along.

I have had confirmation that Pinnacle has found the source code and they finally were able to compile it. So it is a possibility that we might see something from Avid.

But now that Adobe has their hands on gFx, I’ll put my money on Adobe dominating the roto market.

    Hey Ron,
I understand your needs, but considering the fact that Pinnacle offers no support for commotion I hope you keep this around until the app stops working. Maybe I should just start posting random topics to keep it appearing alive 😉

  • No clue… it’s amazing that it still works in general.

I suggest calling Pinnacle tech support and “demand” support. It will be interesting if they even know what Commotion is.

[J Bills] “sure – reexport your clip with a blank frame 0. Motion blur needs that frame before/frame after to work properly, so just feed it another frame.

Or, you can export the matte and hand paint the blur using the paint tools (either cloning from frame 2 or just blurring by hand).”

    😉

It’s not “alive”… they just happen to still “try” to sell it. They are also selling my Commotion VHS tapes which were updated to DVD three years ago… they sell VHS for $279 “on sale”, which brand new DVD’s at Toolfarm are $99.

Commotion is dead. The two apps to look at as a replacement are Curious gFx and Silhoutte Roto (no paint).
