    Thanks all,

    to sum up

The best thing in the future would be getting the client to sort out an encodable file at the same time as creating a DCP, but currently they have a DCP which is my problem so will have to reverse engineer it!!!

I think DCP files are new for a lot of my clients (independent film producers/directors)and they are not technically minded so don’t really know what it is. they just think it is a file like any other.

    thanks again

    If i understand this right.
Could you not use in-point markers.
Find exactly the same point in ever video (easy for the time code ones) mark an in-pont and group that way.
There is no quick way as you will have to find the exactly point in every camera.

Thanks Jon, Thats what I thought.
I have used version 3 and agree it is an improvement in parts. but like a lot of people I have no budget at the moment and version 2.xx has worked fine for what we do and trying to convince the money men to upgrade is a skill i cant seem to master.

I still have not solved the problem of the firewire, but I am going to get XP up to the latest version and put on 2.6 which will make it identical to a system i all ready have working.
Most people i have spoken to say it is Windows not letting go of the firewire port, so i think this should do it.

    Thanks again.. over and out..

If you dont want to open all you bins, maybe just open the Media Tool select master clips from that project and then use the Sift function

Just a thought, but they do have the .mxf at the end of the file?
Just because you said “exported” i wondered if they are ‘same as source’ .mov file.
    If so just normal import.
But expect it is what Michael said

What i mean is free upgrade, i know that if i download 2.6 from avid that it will work with my dongle that came with my mc 2.5, but i was just wondering what is the max version i can go to.
I just think this would solve a few bug that im having.

Maybe this is not possible at all, maybe im not suppose to be able to do this, but i have all the correct licenses so not trying to pull one over on avid.
I doubt i gain much but i would expect that there would be better versions that sort out windows upgrade issues etc.

The PC would have no problems as it is an HP xw8400 so has plenty of grunt to cope with latest version of avid.

all the system i have are slightly configured different running various versions, i inherited all this not my doing.

I have tried turning everything off and on in different orders.
The Mojo has nothing do do with controlling any deck! it is either through the com1 port or firewire.

I cannot get avid to see anything to do with the firewire, even through deck config.

I think it is a windows issue or a bad file!

What i meant about the dongle is that the dongle for 2.5 wont work with version3xx, what is the lastest version i can upgrade to untill the license runs out
