    Hi,

I am editing a tv show shot using 14 cams. 5 of these cams are tc linked and continuously recording, so I have no problems to group them.

BUT… I also have different mini dv cams that are not synced, and not continuous, so i have to add them manually onto new video tracks on my timeline. By the way, my grouped clip is on v1.

Is there a way to merge these extra tracks into my group track? Or create a new group that consists of my first group and the upper layers?

    Thanks

    Emre

    If i understand this right.
Could you not use in-point markers.
Find exactly the same point in ever video (easy for the time code ones) mark an in-pont and group that way.
There is no quick way as you will have to find the exactly point in every camera.

Of course it would be great to use in points, only if i had all footage CONTINUOUS. My synced 5 cams, let’s say were recorded for about 100 minutes continuously. But the dv’s are like 20 or 30 clips per camera within that 100 mins. 🙁 And mixdown for all the 9 dv cams is huge pain and loss of time. I need some easy solution(if there is such a thing) other than oldschool mixdown.

There is no way to do what you want.

Multicam is designed to work with continuous recordings.

I believe it is time Avid makes a change about it.
