    Thanks very much.

My solution was to update to Cineform Neo (the free one). This worked, even though I had JUST updated to the newest ConnectHD.

    Thanks for the link!

“HDV has issues in AE. Could this be your problem?”

I would guess not, since this combination worked in AE7.

It SOUNDS like you’re trying to adjust the Opaciity of the top clip???
Put your “master” clip on V2. Put the clip you want on top of that on V1. Now there are two ways to go from here (3, actually – no… more than that…), but the easiest is to just grab somewhere near the top of the clip itself and with your right mouse button pull down a bit. You will see a bar that you are now adjusting. It should be adjusting the Opacity and you will get immediate feedback on your playback monitor (assuming your CTI is parked on that clip somewhere).
If you want to adjust that opacity over time, that’s a different matter. Just let us know.

Hopefully I’m not going against any forum mandates here by posting this link. If I am, I do humbly apologize.
Forward! I’ve been reading about this very problem on dvinfo.net. I was hoping to see other solutions here. But for your immediate question, check out this thread:
    https://dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=116587
They have “solutions” there, but I’m not happy reading any of them (they have to do with small amounts of Gaussian Blur, etc).
Clearly not everyone is having this problem, so what is being missed???

DSE, Do you still use Cineform, or have you found that compositing with the mxf files to be just as good?
Also, I’ve been reading that the resolution on the EX1 is “too good” for SD delivery, and that horizontal lines get very “stair stepped.” I figure you have tons of experience at this point with that, so no one would know better than you.
    Any thoughts?
