    30P?

If you shot 30 and captured it removing a 3:2 that wasn’t there your footage will have all sorts of field issues. Capture some using straight up DV settings and see what that gives you.

  • Thanks Walter
    Good to know.

  • I don’t know the cadence of 30P but if you step through the tape frame by frame and you see a duplicate frame within a 5 frame set. The camera was in 24 mode.

Did you try Verify Disk in disk utilities?

If you have any disk utility apps ie disk warrior, tech tools. Try running them. If it’s a corrupt catalog it’ll give you the best shot at fixing it.

To change preroll you have to go to Audio/Video Settings – Device Control Presets then edit the preset you are using. It would be a good idea to duplicate the preset you are using and edit the duplicate.

Also make sure you are batching the right tape.

Yeah I hear you. It isn’t a pretty work around. I think for this project you’re stuck. For the future it may work for you. You can also lay down markers during the log and capture process or while previewing clips in viewer.

The process of pulling selects is highly subjective what’s best is what works for you.

    1. If you drag the marked clips from your sequence back into the browser they will display all the markers you’ve put in.

    2. I see no work around for this. Unless anyone else has a suggestion you are stuck with command A before your moves.

    3. This as well I see no work around. Perhaps someone has an answer.

I would still back up the criticals. Projects, assets not from tape etc. Good practice to do before any upgrade.

Are you generating the QT in compressor? Compressor will give you an estimated file size. Also hard drives need some breathing room to function. As a rule of thumb keep 10% of the hard drives total size free. Dig into that buffer and you’ll experience difficulties.
