Ed… well, if you are putting video up on your website and dont want to pay 100’s or 1000’s a month for streaming when loads of people start hammering your site, then embedding YouTube videos makes a lot of sense !!!

Tom,
This works fine for me on a test project with just two clips, but it isnt working on my main project. I’ve tried a dozen times but no dice.
I’m now exporting the AIFF and will tweak in a sound editing program but would really like to understand why it isnt working in FCP. It would be so much easier if it worked as advertised.
Any ideas on what could be causing it not to function properly? There is room on the head and tail of the clip if you are wondering….
thanks,
Matthew -
(bump)
Anyone have any ideas about this ???

March 19, 2007 at 2:17 pm in reply to: Episode Pro – Changes in BitRate not changing file size…>>Are you using Episode Pro 4.2.2 (latest version)?
Yes>>Are on PPC Mac or Intel?
PPC Mac>>Are you saying your 83 minute source file always encodes to 4.3GB regardless of encode settings?
Yes, I’ve tried everything from max of 7.4, down to max of 6.7 or so, and average of 6.5 down to 6.0>>As an experiment try using the Elementry Stream/Video – NTSC (or PAL if that’s the case) 3Mbit preset.
The preset does give me a smaller file.
I also tried the 7Mbps preset which gives me a smaller file, but the preset is 1-pass – I want to use 2-pass, and the preset is bottom (lower) field and my source material is PAL 10bit uncompressed which is upper field.
I made my custom settings by duplicating the preset and changing the data rates, passes and field order. -
Hi Mark,
Sorry for the dumb question, but how to change the speed? Should I make the composition one frame longer or shorter, but keep the Illustrator file the same size?

Hi Mylenium,
Thanks for your reply.
By changing the scrolling speed, do you mean simply changing the duration of the composition?
I’ll experiment, but is +/- one frame usually enough?Matthew

Hi,
Well, nice to know it is a known bug……
Yes, I am editing in 10bit, and I need to stay in 10bit.
Looks like I’ll have to create the effect with another filter unless anyone else has suggestions. What other rendering problems does FCP have in 10bit ?
thanks,

February 25, 2007 at 11:50 pm in reply to: Decklink to Aja to Decklink – color change?Hi Kristian,
The Decklink drivers used to capture were current as of March 2006.
Just recently, I updated to the current driver version from your website.
Capturing was done with Blackmagic 10bit Uncompressed 4:2:2I dont know what codec the Aja machine was using, but I could find out.
CC was done using FCP’s built-in ThreeWay color corrector, as well as brodcast safe filter. When you say “We currently use Apple’s Uncompressed 4:2:2 10-bit codec and so should AJA.”, does that mean that the Blackmagic 10bit Uncompressed codec is the same as Apple’s?
Thanks,
Matthew
