  • Unfortunately you’re in a tough situation. While your background isn’t too bad, it has a fair number of creases, highlights and shadows. Therefore you’re keying out a pretty wide range of green values. That screen reflection is so close that it’s almost sure to be keyed completely out. If you had a near perfectly lit green screen you may be able to differentiate. So you’re solution is pretty much frame by frame, more or less. If you have After Effects you could try the trackers to keep a mask over the screen with less work or maybe the rotobrush tool.

    Here’s a good tutorial:

I also have this issue. If I scrub back to a spot and hit space bar to play, it will often start playback from where the cursor was a second or two before I scrubbed, or during the scrub. Same with clicking on the time line. Is this what everyone else experiences, or is there something somewhere that is wrong.

  • Is this still the case? I can’t believe that this still wouldn’t be possible, but I can’t seem to find any way to do it. I mean, it can connect with projects from other programs, but cannot import a timeline or menu from another project? It just doesn’t seem possible that in 2012 and after 6 CS versions and several others you cannot import a project. Can’t copy and paste elements from one project to another. Baffling.

  • Also searching for an answer to this. I have MTS files from a Panasonic Lumix GH2 and Analyze content is grayed out. I have full read right permissions on all the files, and all have had their audio transcoded.

Sorry, when I said true 24p, I meant it has no pulldown (the GH1 normally records 24p in a 29.97 wrapper), however the frame rate is actually 23.976.

The composition is 23.976 as well.

I have done a fair amount of motion tracking, but always with 29.97 HDV footage.

The reason I think that there is a frame rate issue is because after tracking the motion the keyframes on the comp timeline for the tracker do not line up with the frames. There are more keyframes than actual frames in the video. I didn’t actually count them, and I’m not at work at the moment, but I will count to see if there are indeed 30 keyframes in one second. Since there are more keyframes, they are slightly offset from the frames (except every 5th one or so, again I’ll check when I get back to work tomorrow.)

I’m having the same problem. My footage is from the Panasonic GH-1 DSLR shot with a firmware hack that gives true 24p. Here’s what the issue appears to be, to me:

The comp is set at 23.97. When I go frame by frame through the comp, the footage is correct in that each press of Ctrl+Right Arrow shows a new frame, however, when I go into the tracker settings and tell it to analyze one frame forward, sometimes it advances a frame, and sometimes it does not (however the bar on the timeline does advance). If I look at the key frames the tracker creates, they seem to be set at a framerate of 30 instead of 24.

So I believe the problem is that the tracker isn’t tracking the footage at the correct frame rate. The odd thing is that on the two repeated frames, the tracker jumps a little, even though this should be the simplest of tracks seeing as how 100% of the pixels are the exact same.

    Anyway, anyone experienced this before?

Look for fonts that have a lot of little bits of complex action going on (usually grungy looking fonts). If you notice that when you’re scrolling down the list (at least for me) it will pause, and I will think, “Is it going to crash?” on some of my more complex fonts. However it was always crashing when it got to certain of the most complex of my fonts. I removed those and it doesn’t crash (at least as often).
