October 22, 2019 at 5:40 pm in reply to: Scaling “paint stroke width” over the stroke length and time it was writtenJust a quick update to this. I never found a way to animate stroke width variably over the course of the stroke. What I ended up doing was creating 10 layers with progressively larger thickness and just animating the revealing stroke over the top of the text with a ink bleed looking font.
Once the revealing mask strokes (using alpha track matte switches) were offset by a couple frames, each subsequent stroke revealed a little more giving me a decent representation of the ink bleeding effect.
Just thought I’d share in case anyone else comes across this.

November 26, 2015 at 3:09 am in reply to: Mercury Engine Hardware Accelleration sometimes works, sometimes doesn’t. CC2015.1 GTX670Coincidence? I don’t know why what I tried worked, so it may just be, but here goes.
I right clicked GPUSniffer.exe and in the compatibility tab I checked “Run as administrator.” I tried to run Premiere, and Premiere didn’t like it. I think that GPUSniffer.exe was trying to popup the window to ask for administrator permission to run, but Premiere was expecting it to just run and report back. So Premiere gives me a “No video device found” and then Windows froze out Premiere and I got the “Premiere has encountered and error and needs to close: End Task” box. So I ended Premiere.
I went back, ran GPUSniffer.exe directly for poops and giggles. Sure enough, screen greyed out and asked for me to click “Yes” so it could run with admin privileges. I click yes, it runs and the box goes away, like normal. So I go back into compatibility, uncheck “Run as Admin” and click ok.
Again, just to see what, if anything, I had done, I start up Premiere. It starts right up. One instance of GPUSniffer instead of 4. Open my project and Mercury Hardware is up and running again.
Sooo, I’ll have to try this again next time I get this error (it’s intermittent and random) to see if it’s a consistent fix, or dumb luck and coincidence, but in case anyone else encounters this error, it’s something to try.

It sounds like a weird problem indeed. Maybe it is a weird “feature” of the monitor. Or maybe a setting in your graphics card to “dim the lights,” so to speak when an accelerated video source is playing? Was there any software that you installed with the monitor’s driver? Some icon added to the control panel that controls monitor colors.

I don’t know if the comment about the lighting guy was sarcasm, but if your other camera captured it correctly, it wasn’t his fault. =)
For future reference, what likely happened is that being on auto, the camera often looks at the brightness/dimness of the whole frame. A lot of cameras have different modes for exposure control. Some consumer cameras (and others) have a spotlight setting.
Being that it was a wide shot, you likely had the whole stage, but also a lot of surrounding blackness. The camera took into account all the black and tried to bring the brightness up.
Manual exposure is the way to go, or a spotlight setting (but that can still be unreliable at times). At the very least, setting it on auto and using exposure adjustment to bring the brightness down would have saved your highlights, but again, anything on auto is taking control and giving it to the camera. If you really know your camera, you know how it will likely react to different situations, but you’re always running a bit of risk.
Unfortunately, depending on how blown out your highlights are, it may be difficult to get a good image from what you recorded. Fast color corrector, or the shadow/highlight effect is a good place for a beginner in color correcting to start, but shadow/highlight is not an accelerated effect unfortunately.
I hope this helps. Cheers.

Turn off the effect and watch the clip. Is there a quick jolt of the camera at the point you’re seeing this? Depending on your shutter speed, a quick movement will cause the whole frame to blur with motion blur (just like if you purposefully did a quick whip pan with the camera.) While Warp Stabilizer can take out the motion of the camera to a certain extent, it cannot remove the blurring of the video in the frame. Not sure of any software that can.

I was looking back for an old post of mine, but I stumbled on this one and I figured it out. I figured I’d update it with an answer for anyone else who may have this problem:
If you have a reference monitor window (usually used for scopes) anywhere in your project (even if it is not visible) then it causes Premiere to do this. Close that window and it should stop (it did for me.)
Again, even if a reference monitor is open as a tab somewhere in your project, but not visible like this:

it will still cause this lag and timeline jumping. -

May 28, 2015 at 5:43 pm in reply to: How do you copy and paste audio effects from one track to another?Seems like a very simple thing that should be a available. Probably just an oversight.
Hopefully that ability will be added, as I just started using the audio mixer more (I’ve known it was there for a while, but am now stating to really consider it’s power as I’m working on shortfilms with lots of tracks and mixing) and I applied the effects I wanted (and there are several effects with lots of settings) to one track. I went to copy them to the right channel, and no can do. I now know I should have done a submix, and I guess it’s a lesson learned, but logically you would just assume that you could copy the effect from one track to the other.

Same problem here. Very annoying. How do I make it stop?

September 17, 2014 at 6:00 pm in reply to: Convert Regular Sequence To Multicam SequenceI spent a while creating spanned markers (not sure if that’s the correct term, but markers that cover a range of time) in my multicam sequence to mark where each part of the song is in a music video I’m doing (Verse, Chorus, Bridge, etc.) Unfortunately I have too many layers of footage and my current hard drive setup is not fast enough (I need to set up a better RAID array) to keep up with playback, so I need to just do the rough edit traditionally. Is there any harm in just treating a multicam sequence as a regular sequence and editing as normal?

Seems to be another bug with multicam sequences. Having the same problem. tells me rendering 485 audio previews no matter how much of the timeline I export. Adobe should fix this ASAP.
