Cinemartin PLIN plugin is available for Premiere Pro and AE. You can also use FFMPEG, from the command line.

A ZFS NAS with 8GB of RAM and a properly constructed ZIL (compression turned off, etc.) should be no problem for ProRes LT, XDCAM, or compressed HD files under Premiere Pro or Sony Vegas.
You can generally buy one for $450-700.

Uncompressed or users requiring ProRes422 will not be able to use anything other than a RAID 0 of three or more disks, or SSD.

I have routinely had problems with NAS access and FCP 6/7 – as a result I no longer use FCP or support it across my user base.

  • You need to bake the object that has the external compositing tag in Cinema4D.
Baking is the in the right hand object panel.

Keep in mind that C4D will simplify the geometry down to polygons at that point.

FFMPEG works great to render ProResLT on Windows. I am working on a directshow solution (exoprt directly from Premiere) as well and will post my progress.

  • I have not had problems with CS6 for Windows and Venus 7000’s with uncompressed. HUFFYUV codec & WMV9 also seems to work well.

Daktronics older software seems to work fine with these using 6.05 through 6.10.

If you want to send me a sample file, I can help you analyze the codec and probably find a solution.

Choose uncompressed AVI from AfterEffects, or -vcodec rawvideo and -vcodec huffyuv seem to work well from FFMPEG.
WMV9 also seems to work fine using both the SDK and GUI tool.

I’m working through some Mac -> Venus issues with CS5 and saw this post. I’ll probably DM you through twitter as well, since I don’t spend a lot of time on the COW.

  • Check the connection diagrams here – HD/SDI and HDMI input.
