  • Cineware external compositing (checked solid) not showing up?

Posted by Stuart Paciej on January 27, 2014 at 11:03 pm

    Hello, short and sweet hopefully:

    •Made a C4D file
•Added external compositing tags to some objects so that I have a reference point for optical flares
•Ticked the ‘solid’ box on the tag
•Opened file in AE with Cineware
    •Pressed extract scene data

-only camera and lights are imported to AE 🙁

Any ideas? Do I need an .aec file? Seems like I shouldn’t do?

    Thanks Cows!

What you describe should work. Make sure that you hit save in C4D before extracting the scene data.

You need to bake the object that has the external compositing tag in Cinema4D.
Baking is the in the right hand object panel.

Keep in mind that C4D will simplify the geometry down to polygons at that point.

I found this post while having the same problem.

    Here’s a solution that worked:
The objects needs to be EDITABLE (If you use a parametric object, convert it to a polygonal object) .
The external compostiting tag did not work for me as long as the object I applied it to was still parametric.
