Of the two, I like the null trick better.

Gotcha.. That’s easy enough to do, I just didn’t know if there was a more obvious (or ‘correct’) way..! 🙂

I hate to move the anchor point, everything revolves around it (literally!)..

I have animated a layer. However, I want to offset this whole animation by moving the layer left or right. I can easily do this by parenting it to a NULL and moving the null. In combustion/toxic, if I turn off animate and moved it where I want it, all of the animation and keyframes offset to the new location. Possible?

Ahh, I didn’t know that.. I’m on a PC notebook and it has an embedded numpad, it comes in really handy for hotkeys..

This thew me for a loop, too, when other compositors seem to play/scratch audio as you preview the timeline..

To do it in AE: you can hold down CTRL (Option on a MAC I think) and scrub the Current Time Indicator to hear a scratch track..

Or, you can hit ‘.’ (decimal) on the numpad to play the audio, but the video doesn’t update..

Or, you can hit ‘0’ (zero) on the numpad and it caches the work area and plays back the audio and video (but this takes a few seconds)..

I’m coming from combustion and toxik, so I’m a little surprised to not to have such a integral tool. Duplicating lots of layers sure clutters things up..

Yes, that is what I’m seeing.. I have scene detection turned off, yet I keep getting splits in scenes.. It wouldn’t be that big a deal, but there is a jump in the video, like we are loosing 20 frames or so.. I don’t understand why this is happening.. The video is clean and clear and uncut from beginning to end, and the capture utility says ‘0 frames dropped’..

I guess I can try another video capture utility..

What combination gives me the most complete toolset? I dont have a compatible host application.. But if I have to I’ll get AE..

I downloaded the demo of Blue and really like it! Lots of buttons to learn, though..

I just dont want to spend the time learning Blue, and get against the wall on a project and find out I need Red to finish the job..

Also: I downloaded the demo of Final Effects and installed it to my combustion2008 plugins directory.. Combustion would not start after that, though.. It stalled on loading the Final Effects filters.. Is Final Effects not combustion2008 compatible?

Ahh, I did not know that..

Would I be better served learning Blue or Red? I see more in the gallery for Red.. Can Blue do everything that Red can?

The website says Red includes Graffiti and FX.. Does Blue?
