May 25, 2012 at 6:54 am in reply to: CS6/Decklink Lag on Mac

    Hi Guys,

    @Ray

Nice to hear from you! Hope all is well. I try to get on here when I can but thats getting harder these days.

    @ group

We have been investigating the lag issue you guys reported and here is what we have found so far:

There is a definite lag between the desktop and SDI output when you use the arrow keys to step through frames and then hit play quickly. BUT if you do the same thing with the mouse…. its all good. Is this what you guys are seeing? We even saw if you step through frames quickly with keyboard and then wait for a second to hit play…. its all good.

We are working with Adobe on this one as it seems very odd that mouse and keyboard have totally different delays. Having said that, the Transmit plugin architecture is brand new for CS6 so there maybe some unforeseen things crop up that all 3rd parties will be in the same boat on and have to work through.

I’ll keep you posted on progress with that issue.

    @ Chris

We have fixed those issues with Desktop Video 9.5.2 which will be on the BMD website tomorrow.

    @ Andre

Just hold tight – your issue with ETT will be resolved probably tomorrow too. Might be worth running “Check for updates” tomorrow

    Hi Guys,

I wanted to get some clarification from you about the reported lagging.

Are you meaning there is a lag between the desktop monitor and the SDI/HDMI monitor of 2+ frames? I did some pip tests today and the output was in sync audio/video wise. I was monitoring the HDMI out of the DeckLink card. Are you guys monitoring the audio from the DeckLink output or using the Mac audio output?

Could you also let me know what codec, frame rate and frame size the clips are so we can run some more tests here.

One issue we have seen is the the audio meters lag behind the playback by several frames – we have a fix for that and also a fix for the SD 4:3 and NTSC issues reported.

Our goal is to do an update early next week but i would also like to get clarification on this lagging issue as well.

    Thanks,

    Regards,

    Matt

  • Hi Robert,

Response time depends on the load at the time and also on the questions themselves.

If they are quite technical, then there maybe several engineers that would have to talk before an appropriate answer could be sent back to you, so in some cases this may take a couple days.

    The list is monitored daily.

October 13, 2011 at 6:18 am in reply to: Hyperdeck Studio – an expensive paperweight?

    Hi Richard,

    I’ll cover each point below:

    1. The current operations manual is basic. As we turn on more features we intend to expand it.

    2. What is the REF you are using? I just tried 23.98p to a WFM and it was locked nicely.

    3. As Avid needs profiles for each deck, we are creating those now and will do an update in the coming days which will install the HyperDeck as a profile in Media Composer. I’m happy to provide you with the txt file that you can simply drop in into Media Composer to try out beforehand. If you could drop me an email address to contact you on that would be great.

    4. Currently we record from 00:00:00:00 and its counts on from there. We will be doing an update to support embedded SDI timecode soon.

    5. HyperDeck Utility is currently intended to update the firmware only of the unit. As we turn on more features, the Utility will become more alive.

    6. This should not be happening and it totally unexpected behaviour. Does QT player playback the clips ok? It might be a good idea to call BMD local support in your region who can help walk you through this.

In regards to the response in communication, if your issue is urgent and if you think you are not getting a satisfactory response time wise, I would encourage you to call the local office nearest you for support so you can talk to someone directly and hopefully get some resolutions to your issues quickly.

We appreciate your understanding and patience while we turn on some features and fix some of the teething issues that sometimes crop up.

It’s a fantastic product and we have some exiting things we are going to do with it!

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Matt

October 4, 2011 at 3:42 am in reply to: Decklink Drivers – Premiere Pro 5.5.1

    Hi Peter,

I am wondering if this could be a Quadro specific issue. I am going to get a Quadro 4000 and check this out here for you as we are not seeing anything like you are reporting with GTX cards.

I’ll be in touch as soon as I have some results.

    Best,

    Matt

October 3, 2011 at 6:00 am in reply to: Decklink Drivers – Premiere Pro 5.5.1

    Hi Peter,

It’s been a while since we spoke, hope you are well.

We have not had to change anything specific to support Premiere 5.5.1 as this release to my understanding was mainly for Premiere bug fixes and improvements targeted at OSX Lion, not any new features for 3rd parties to support. Are you running Lion? If not, is upgrading to Lion an option for you?

I had quick look at the Adobe forum also and it appears some other folks have had similar issues to what you have reported with Snow Leopard (not BMD or third party specific either) After they updated to Lion, their systems seemed much more stable and snappier. You can take a look here:

    https://forums.adobe.com/message/3949167#3949167

I also checked with our support team worldwide and they have not had any reports with specific CS 5.5.1 issues to date.

In regards to responding to posts, we jump on to the cow when we can but we don’t monitor this forum daily as it is intended to be a forum for users. The fastest way to find out about anything like this or to get help if you are having issues is to contact Blackmagic Design support either via email or give them a call in your local region.

For something like the issue you are reporting, they could grab some sample files from you, your system setup to try and replicate, then you can walk them through exactly how you make this fall over. If they can repro the problem with you they will then contact us with all of this information so we can look into it further and hopefully find a timely resolution. We speak to the support guys globally on a daily basis.

If you are running Lion and still having the same issues, then please contact our support guys so they can get all of your information, system setup, sample clips etc.. so they can can send a detailed report to us – then we can check it out straight away and hopefully see the same issues so we can try to fix it!
