The problem is that the clock rates (and hence sample or frame rates) are very slightly different between the video camera(s) and H4N. You could try syncing the main video and the H4N audio in a new Vegas project, using the audio stretch to bring the start and end of the audio into sync, then nest that in your real project so that you can cut and edit as desired. This may affect the audio quality slightly but probably unnoticeably.

Wow, that was a long render!
Writing the ISO file to Blu-ray will depend on the speed of your BD drive, but it will be only a matter of minutes. For example with a 8x write speed, 27GB would probably take around 15mins.
Once you have the video rendered (to an ISO file or as video files), you can write copies/backups quite quickly.

The built-in Stabilizer seems to do a motion analysis at the time you apply stabilization, then use that motion data to do the stabilization on the fly during preview or render.
So no, the clip doesn’t get re-rendered, but there will be some quality loss due to the stabilization processing (resizing, panning, tilting etc).

I don’t know for sure, but I guess that you will need a little bit more disc space to hold the ISO file than the video files. For 27GB, you probably need to use a dual-layer disc for the ISO or the video.

Did you use the Make Movie or Burn Disc feature?
I think both of them give you the option to only create a disc image file (ISO) or do the burn as well.
There’s not much point in burning the ISO file to disc as a file – you might as well just create a proper BD disc. You can’t play the ISO file in a BD player, and the contents will technically be the same anyway.
You can use Movie Studio’s “Burn Disc” feature to burn one or more Blu-ray discs from the ISO image. Just select “Burn existing image file” and browse to the ISO file.

Are you sure you haven’t applied some pan/crop? To remove any pan/crop, open the pan/crop window for that event, right-click on the pan/crop workspace and select Restore.

November 28, 2011 at 9:18 pm in reply to: Adding video to time line from trimmer without audio trackYou can right-drag (drag with right mouse button) from the Explorer to the timeline, then select Video Only>Add Video Across Time. The same can be done for audio only.
You can also add video only (or audio only) from the trimmer. When you create your selection in the trimmer, drag above the upper dotted horizontal line (top edge of the video) to select video only, or below the lower dotted line to grab audio only.
If you’ve already made a trimmer selection, hit Tab to cycle between audio only, video only, or both. Then drag the selection to the timeline.

If you’re mixing stills and video in a project, try adding the color correction only on the stills track(s) instead of the output FX, so that the video is left unaffected.
If you don’t have the computer-to-studio preset, you can re-create it from Mike’s screenshot.
Still images (especially from compact digital cameras) typically have higher saturation and more contrast than video, so you need to tone them down to match the video. In addition, still images tend to use pixel values of 0-255 (full 8 bit range) and video normally uses 16-235 (a hangover from analog TV video), so the computer-to-studio color correction reduces the range to suit video.

Normalize basically scans the audio event to find the highest peak, then sets the (constant) gain for the whole event to make the peak equal to 0dB.
You can also try the compression effects supplied with Vegas. Track compressor is a straightforward compression effect. You might have some luck with the presets such as Soft Limiter. This can be used to boost the overall level (set track gain to 0dB and adjust the compressor input gain) and clamp down on occasional peaks.

You generally can’t have audio above 0dB in an audio file (or camcorder footage), so you must have increased the levels somewhere in editing – check track and master faders and envelopes.
Normalize will typically bring the source level UP (if possible) to 0dB peak (or whatever you set in the audio preferences). If the peak(s) are already at 0dB then it can’t increase more without clipping the source audio.
